News & Events COMPETITIVE TRAIL NEWS IN THE SOUTHWEST
2020 RIDE SCHEDULES AVAILABLE: REGISTER NOW While November is for chasing the final points of the year for annual awards, Decem-
ber launches a new year for trail competitions throughout the Southwest. The 2020 sched- ules have been in the works for months and are posted on the organizations’ websites and Facebook pages to make advance planning easy. The North American Trail Ride Conference (NATRC) kicks off its Region 4 2020 events
with the Jingle Bell Jaunt CTR at Parrie Haynes Equestrian Center in Killeen, Texas on De- cember 7-8. Carter Hounsel, DVM, Becky Rogers and Alice Perryman are the judges for the competition which offers four divisions, including multiple one-day options for newer com- petitors. “It is going to be a great holiday event,” said Cara Liebman, ride manager. “Dr. Houn-
sel is a favorite judge of distance riders as he has so much insight into the distance horse. We always learn a lot from him.” The Texas Trail Challenge Club begins the week after with the Christmas Caper at 7IL
Trails in Cat Spring, Texas on December 14-15. “We have such a good time at 7IL as there are so many opportunities for our competi-
tors to show what they can accomplish on the trail with their equine partners,” said Kate Hol- lar, ride co-manager with Amy Martin. “There are 10 observations scattered over 10 miles of trail, all with a holiday theme.” Ride managers and secretaries of all competitive trail events appreciate advance regis-
trations. And most will agree it is easier to delete an entry than to create one in the chaos the day of the competition. Visit organization websites for more details and full schedules. Reg- ister today! w
