NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity Special Awards
NRCHA Executive Director Jay Winborn presented special
awards to the Open Futurity preliminary round high scores. Win- ning the High Herd Work Award was RPL Boon (Boon Too Suen x RPL Ich This x Cat Ichi), owned and ridden by Jordan Wil- liams, scoring a 222.5. The Gist buckle and NCHA trophy were sponsored by Dont Stopp Believin and Phil and Mary Ann Rapp. Nineteen Ten (Hickory Holly Time x Lil Miss Shiney Chex
x Shining Spark) and Flint McCullough (Smart Boons x Smart Dueling Chic x Smart Chic Olena), two horses ridden by Kelby Phillips for DT Horses, tied for the High Rein Score with iden- tical scores of 223. The win was accompanied by a Gist buckle and NRHA trophy sponsored by Dry Creek Ranch and Jahn and Gregg LaFitte, as well as the National Reining Horse Associa- tion.
The High Fence Score Award was presented to Hesa Dual
Bet (Bet Hesa Cat x RJJ Miss Viagra Pep x Dual Pep), ridden by Matt Koch for owner Kent Blough, scoring a 227. The winning team was awarded a CR Morrison trophy and Gist Silversmith’s buckle sponsored by Confidence EQ and Clark Weaver. The High Scoring Gelding Award went to CR Dees Be
Tuff (Woody Be Tuff x CR Dees Boon Meow x Peptoboonsmal), ridden by Kelby Phillips for DT Horses. The winning team was awarded a Gist Silversmith’s trophy buckle and Don Rich Saddle sponsored by Texas Landmark Realtors. The High Scoring Horse Owner and Rider Awards were
custom stirrups from Daryl Davis, which were presented to Rob- ert Smith III and his wife Becky on behalf of their horse Du- allicious (Dual Spark x Unos Charm x Smart Little Uno) with a 663.5. The 2019 Ladies Champion was Sarah Dawson riding RY- ourChecksSmokin (Dual R Smokin x Checkers Live Oak x Im Countin Checks). Dawson was awarded a Bob’s Custom Saddle, CR Morrison Trophy, Classic Equine monogrammed cooler, Gist buckle, Platinum Performance, $250 certificate for CR Ranch- Wear and monogrammed CINCH jacket. The Open AQHA Ranching Heritage Bred award, an
AQHA trophy, was presented by AQHA President Dr. Jim Heird to the Center Ranch bred mare Wooodya (Woody Be Tuff x CR Dees Boon Meow x Peptoboonsmal), ridden by Justin Wright for Eric Freitas. The AQHA Ranching Heritage Non Pro Limited Award went to Jasper Patrick and DMR Natural Who (Whodini x Natural Budha x Natural Enterprise). The High Scoring AQHA Ranching Heritage Bred Non Pro award was presented to Abbie Phillips and CR Tuff Guns N Roses bred by Center Ranch, the top scoring Non Pro entry of the preliminaries. The Ranching Heritage Breeder Award went to Diamond M Ranch and Cattle Company. Judges for the 2019 Snaffle Bit Futurity were Lyn Anderson, Chris Benedict, Al Dunning, Bozo Rogers, and Ken Wold. w

American Rope Horse Futurity
Three go rounds of the Open Heeling portion of the three-day
$100,000-added DT Horses and American Rope Horse Futurity Asso- ciation World Championship Rope Horse Futurity kicked off the day in Justin Arena. Twenty Heeling Finalists, out of 130 total heeling entries, would compete again following the Heading Finals also held today. The $100,000-added DT Horses and ARHFA World Championship Rope Horse Futurity is open to 4-, 5-, and 6-year-old horses. The event is slated to pay out $400,000 across all divisions over the three days. Winning the first round of Open Heeling for $3,000 was Nation-
al Finals Rodeo qualifier Joseph Harrison riding CSR Dual Boonlite (Dual Spark x Dance In The Boonlite). First in round two was Metallic Lights (Metallic Cat x Delight Of My Life) shown by Ryan Motes to bank $3,000. Winning first in the third round was Cade Rice and Dual Badger
Cat (Reys Dual Badger x Cat Golden Lynx), also cashing in for $3,000. Upon conclusion of the Open Heading Finals held after the Heel-
ing prelims, it was Blue Berry Please, ridden by Andy Holcomb for owner Stephen Silva, who took the $20,000 championship home. Blue Berry Please (Nics Black Diamond x SES Please) lead the field com- ing into the Open Heading Finals and scored a 232.69 to seal the deal with a final 919.49 composite. The 2013 gelding was bred by Running Springs Ranch. In the exciting Heeling Finals it was Dual Axle (Dual R Smokin
x CDs Modern Millie), ridden by Joseph Harrison for owner Denice Bledsoe, winning the Open Heeling Championship and $20,000. Har- rison roped his way to a 927.98 composite after four runs riding the 2014 stallion bred by J Five Horse Ranch. Harrison was also second for $18,000 riding CSR Dual Boonlite for Bobby Lewis. Non professional ropers took the spotlight in the Justin Arena for
