help church THE community are being called on to help raise the roof at their church in Bearsted by supporting its Christmas Fayre. The Raise the Roof campaign

was launched in 2017 after a rou- tine inspection found more than £400,000 will need to be spent on the roof at Holy Cross Church. Undaunted, the parochial church council has been holding various fund-raising events and has so far collected £15,000. They hope the rest of the village

will rally round by offering items to sell, by buying raffle tickets or attending the third Christmas Fayre for the roof in the church on Saturday, December 7. Stalls will be selling jewellery, bric-a-brac, cakes, biscuits, re- freshments, books and toys, a tombola, prize raffle from 10am to 2pm. Santa will also put in an ap- pearance.

Admission is £1 and free for children. Parking is available at the end of Church Lane. To help, buy a raffle ticket, or

offer a prize, call the committee on 01622 630451.
