Welcome

What a difference a few weeks can make. We seem to have gone from dry, warm days to very wet and chilly so quickly, but it puts you in the frame for seasonal activities such as bonfires on November 5th and Christmas fun. In this issue we find out more about the bespoke sculptures that are part of the Stourhead illuminated trail and the popular Santa train and Christmas market at the Hope Nature Centre.

At the end of the month, on November 30th, Christmas comes to both Westbury and Warminster town centres. Warminster has the children’s lantern parade and the light switch on. There will also be stalls, festive music, food vendors and even Santa’s Grotto, so plenty to see and do for all the family. And Santa will be popping to Westbury where there are markets and music to enjoy.

Most people are familiar with the idea of a birthstone, but are you aware that there is also a flower for every month? Turn to page 22 to discover what the flower for November is, plus we share some growing tips to help you plan ahead for next year.

Our front cover picture is courtesy of the chefs at Waitrose who have come up with an idea for a no-bake Chocolate Cheesecake - see page 12. This could be fun to make at half term with the little ones. They will just need a bit of help when it comes to the melting stage of the recipe but I have a feeling they are going to love licking the bowl …
