ALL THE LATEST NEWS, VIEWS AND STORIES FROM AROUND YOUR LOCAL AREA:OCTOBER/NOVEMBER ALL NEW CURRICULUM AT PADDLE

During the spring and summer term, we have been reviewing our curriculum to best meet the needs of our children and context of our children. It has been an exciting time ensuring the curriculum fits together, to provide clear progression, coverage, real-life experience, so that children can build on their knowledge and skills year on year, enabling further opportunities for knowledge and skills to ‘stick’.

Development of the whole child is very important to us and being a Church school, we aim to develop our pupils, socially, emotionally, spiritually and culturally. With a carefully structured progressive curriculum, we have planned enrichment activities to support and deepen understanding of the curriculum and make our children into:

The curriculum has been planned so that History topics are taught chronologically, enabling the children to understand the passage of time and how historical developments have influenced their lives today. Teachers have then looked carefully at links with other subjects across the curriculum, again, embedding learning as pieces of the jigsaw ‘fit’ together, to strengthen the knowledge and skills that we want our children to leave Paddle School on their next stage of their learning journey.

Paddle School OPEN EVENT

Eaglesfield Paddle CE Primary Academy Serving the Cockermouth Community

Thursday 7th November 11.00am and 1.30pm

As always, we are exploiting every possible opportunity to get the children outside to enjoy the amazing outside provision and views that we have at Paddle School. This includes a variety of experiences: Forest Schools; Wednesday in the Woods for Year 1; Outside Explorers for Year 2; monthly visits from our National Trust Ambassador; Residentials for years 2 to 6 and lots of lessons outside! In Year 5 & 6, instead of swimming, children will learn how to sail for a block of six weeks, another exciting opportunity to learn new skills and apply their swimming knowledge to real life water safety.
