CO-OP ESTATE PLANNING

Co-op Estate Planning that I am part of is an ethically run business that adheres to all the values and standards of the wider Co-op Group of businesses. After the consultation(s) the estate planning work that my clients instruct on, such as the writing of Wills and Trusts, is then undertaken by Co-op Legal Services, a company regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority. Once all the legal work has been completed the documents come out to me and I return to the clients to ensure everything is properly signed and witnessed.

The Co-op pricing for work is extremely competitive and furthermore all clients who are members of the Co-op (they have a little blue Co-op card) get a 5% cash return of their spend put back on their card for them to spend in Co- op stores. If a Co-op Funeral Plan is bought then there is a straight 5% reduction in the price of the plan for being a Co-op member. Joining the Co-op could not be easier, either pick up a £1 temporary card in a store and then make one phone call or go online, or just phone 0800 023 4708 and join for £1 and a card will be sent to you. Then use it in the Co-op Stores to build up your ‘cash reward’ and of course when purchasing estate planning from me.

I offer appointments in your own home and at a time convenient to you, including evenings. Typically I can normally see people within a fortnight of their contacting me. I cover all aspects of estate planning with usually a close look at how family assets can be safeguarded from late in life situations that can dramatically reduce the size of what intended beneficiaries actually receive. The planning needs to go in well beforehand…..I still regularly hear from people (or usually their children) who are under the illusion that some magic wand can be waved and the inheritance that is draining way can be restored. Not so. Go for prevention… because there is no cure if the planning is left too late.

COCKERMOUTH U3A DRAMA GROUP

The Fit’n’Active Theatre Company recently enjoyed a resounding success in its first Drama Festival at Lytham St. Annes.

The group was co-founded by Liz Fitton and Stuart Grant and from its inception, attracted members keen to act. Sadly, Liz Fitton was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and died in November 2016. The group decided to be known by its current, play-on-words title as a permanent tribute to Liz, her passion and her inspiration.

The group has become strong and prolific in its output, both in productions and performances. They have performed 72 sketches at fourteen venues, all their material has been written by group members and they have raised funds for charity.

The Lytham St. Annes Festival of One-Act Plays formed part of the Festival of Arts and the Fit’n’Active’s entry ‘Theatrical Digs’ by Jean McConnell, with a cast of two actors, was awarded ‘Best Play’.

Of the eight awards up for grabs, Fit’n’Active went on to win a further two – for Best Female Actor and Best Female Supporting Actor, by Amanda Dyer and Alison Shutt respectively.

Speaking of the awards, Alison Shutt said: “I am beyond proud to have been a part of this and to be bringing the trophies back to Cockermouth and to the group that made it possible. I hope Liz’s family will be proud too.”

There are no plans at present to stage the play in Cockermouth but the group will be touring the local communities with its next production of home-grown sketches early in the New Year.
