WELCOME TO L I V E 2 4 - S E V EN

MANAGING EDITOR Katie McPhilimey katie@live24-seven.com 07726 600 247

Well, trying not to focus on the mess within the political world is like trying not to swat a fly that keeps buzzing around your head, or worse still your dinner plate? I've witnessed friends bickering about it, highlighting their contrasting political persuasions; it's charged, divisive and a downright mess. I have to say though, that the one rule of being able to successfully negotiate is the ability to walk away from the table, take that away and you're never going to have the upper hand surely?

Sticking with politics, just for a little while, I interviewed Jess Phillips MP about her new book Truth To Power: 7 Ways To Call Time On B.S. My opener for the interview was that the strap line (calling time on B.S.) wasn't necessarily something one would associate with an MP – she answered gracefully. Jess interviewed survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire and even Harvey Weinstein's PA for the book; read the interview in this issue.

Politics aside, October is pink through and through. It's Breast Cancer Awareness month and the opportunity to shine a light on the great work of breast cancer charities, surgeons and fundraisers alike. More importantly, it’s the opportunity to urge everyone to check their breasts for lumps or any other peculiarities. So please do so.

Personally I love the cooler months, there's something so easy and cosy about layers and a gorgeous coat…I know, I know, I'm not wishing winter on anyone; I just admire the wardrobe that goes with the season. See my picks this month on page 20 With a month full of great parties and events, I'm hoping that your October is shaping up nicely and you avoid the tricks and opt for the treats this month...
