Family Follow Their Dream To Sail Around The World For Three Years

A

fter years of planning, an adventure loving family from Weybridge, Surrey have set off on their life long dream of sailing around the world with their children. Their plan is to take 3 years off to sail around the world with their 2 boys Dylan 12 and Nathan 9, educating them about the all different places, cultures, currencies, religions, traditions, geological and historical features of all the places they will visit. As well as having a close up view of our oceans and all the different creatures that live and depend on them.

The Taylor’s have always been a travel loving bunch. When they realised they were living, working and counting each day till their next holiday, they decided to make a change. The years were flying past with days spent at work, school and after school clubs. The weekends were never long enough to spend quality time together as a family, and as such they were starting to feel like life was speeding out of control. Shawn and Claire were worried that they would wake up one morning and the boys will have grown up and left home and they had not had the time to do the things they really dreamed about with them.

They sat down and tried to come up with a financial plan that would buy them a good, safe, comfortable boat, and be able to take the 3 years off work. After knocking a few options around the only option that seemed viable would be to sell their family home and use the equity in it to purchase a great yacht that would not devalue too quickly and use some of their savings to live off.

So they sold almost everything

they owned – and bought ‘Mokara’, their Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran sailing boat that will be their home for the next few years.
