Chris Hemsworth: A Superhero With Comic Timing
C
He satirised his looks playing a himbo in the latest Ghostbusters film, but is most known for his brilliant and humorous portrayal of Thor in the Avengers series and his superb dramatic turn as racing driver James Hunt in "Rush". The Marvel films have made him one of the highest paid actors in the world. He also played George Kirk, Captain Kirk's father, in the first reboot of the Star Trek series and starred opposite Thor valkyrie co-star Tessa Thompson in the latest "Men In Black: International".
Other notable films include "Snow White and the Huntsman", the war film "Red Dawn", the action thriller film "Blackhat", and the biographical thriller film "In the Heart of the Sea".
Hemsworth was born in Melbourne,
his mother an English teacher and his father a social-services counsellor, which is probably why he and his two brothers Luke and Liam are so grounded. Growing up between Melbourne and Bulman in the Australian Outback no doubt helped too, seeing different worlds on a regular basis, from buffaloes and crocodiles to city life.
Hemsworth plays a more comedic part as Thor in "Avengers: Endgame", where he puts on a paunch, which he insisted on keeping throughout the film to give the part more depth and sensitivity, rather than the usual stoic deadpan. If anyone thinks that his career is just down to his
looks, try playing a convincing Thor and you'll soon realise it takes great skill to play one dimensional characters
with
such convincing aplomb. His appearance in 189 episodes of Home and Away no doubt contributed to his acting range and confident screen presence.
Hemsworth began dating Spanish actress Elsa Pataky in early 2010 after meeting through their mutual agent. They wed in December 2010, a very short courtship, but Elsa felt he was very mature for his age and keen on having children, which she found very attractive. They have three children, a daughter and twin sons.
Recently Hemsworth revealed that he was going to take a year or so off to spend more time with his children, his daughter who is now seven notices now when he leaves, and he finds it hard spending time apart. They live in Byron Bay in Australia, a very beautiful part of the world in which to bring up a family.
Chris and his wife Elsa have a tattoo on their forearms which is an artistic version of the letters C, E, I, T, S which stands for the names of their family, Chris, Elsa, India, Tristan and Sasha. Along with five of the other Avengers, with whom he is very close, he has the Avengers logo on his chest, which was apparently Scarlett Johansson’s idea, she and Chris Evans did it first, only Mark Ruffalo held out.

hris Hemsworth is one of the most highly regarded leading men in Hollywood. He's actually Australian and it is always surprising to see him in interviews
with his thick Australian accent, so different to the roles he plays. He rose to prominence playing Kim Hyde in "Home and Away", before moving over to Hollywood to try his luck there.
His latest arty thriller "Bad Times at the El Royale" swaps his usual type casting for a cultist, misogynist lunatic pitted against Jeff Bridges, an ex con posing as a priest. A clever statement of variety from an actor planning some time off.
Hemsworth like Brad Pitt combines fabulous looks that women are attracted to and men are not threatened by, with terrific acting skills and a broad range. His performance as James Hunt in "Rush" was worthy of an award and at 35 years old, he still has a rich career ahead of him. We'll see him on our screens again soon when he returns as Thor in "Love and Thunder" in 2021 then "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3" in 2022.
