EDITOR’S LETTER
This Autumn is off to a good start with that late summer heatwave and glorious sunshine in September. Makes up for the rather poor show over the summer. So we’ve brought you lots of exciting reviews, events and pastimes to take in over the next few months before winter sets in properly.
The all electric Jaguar I-PACE keeps our hearts racing as we take it out on a range test, pushing it to the very limits. It mastered the challenge superbly, with luxury comforts and impressive road ability. Recharging at home is heavenly, and it combines racing performance with family friendly motoring.
Our fashion shoot this issue focuses on the country side in the forests and woodlands of Surrey. What to wear when you’re out with your favourite game keeper. And our beauty expert Tracey Grey Mann provides the latest fashionable tips and trends from the Paris catwalks with flair.
If you’ve ever thought of jacking it all in, quitting your job and sailing around the world, then look no further than the Taylor family who have done just that. Follow their travels with their children on a yacht and live vicariously as they share their globe trotting adventures with us. We advise on how to charter a yacht, the best yachts available and where to take them. Test the waters first, so to speak, before you go all out for that dream.
From surf to safari, we learn about a local boy who was also raised amongst wild animals on a game reserve in South Africa and wrote a book of his experiences. Locally we offer things to do at the Crafts In Focus fairs, the superb Bisley Shoot, Slades Farm and the very best live dramatic arts from our Surrey theatres. We also chat with David Nixon OBE, Artistic Director of the extremely talented Northern Ballet, who will be performing Cinderella in Woking in September.
Have you ever wanted to improve your tennis with the very best? I take a trip to Quinta Do Lago in Portugal to train with Judy Murray and discover that even a few lessons from a master will dramatically increase your skills (and I’m no Andy Murray). Our Objects of Desire page picks out the most fascinating and desirable brands to covet. We also pick our favourite dive computers that can be worn all year round as attractive watches. Our profile this issue is the charming and seriously handsome Chris Hemsworth.
Get up to date with the latest in hot property,
the latest offering from Consero London, an internationally acclaimed, multi-award-winning luxury
including developer.
Sunningdale Villas is a boutique collection of eight apartments located close to the centre of, you guessed it, Sunningdale. A new-build property that combines traditional architecture with contemporary touches, an ideal executive home. Plus we present our marvellous guide showcasing the most outstanding private schools.
Only a short skip from Surrey we check out the classic country hotel, Orestone Manor and further afield the delightful Art Deco paradise that can only be reached by tractor at high tide, Burgh Island.
We wish you a wonderful Autumn from everyone here at Surrey Magazine.
