TABER-COALDALE-BOW ISLAND REGION Area offers plenty of rural charm F

rom Raymond to Ma- grath to Coaldale to Taber, and further

down the corridor to Bow Island, you have rural-like lifestyle intertwined with your big-city amenities. The Town of Taber and

M.D. of Taber encom- passes everything from your various hunting and fishing locales, to the love of more extreme sports, be it the motocross track, shooting range or skate- board park all within M.D. of Taber limits. The M.D. of Taber Park has some of the lowest rates in the province, but still all the amenities. Taber is home of the

largest free festival in southern Alberta in Corn- fest in late August. Also featured is a spray park which makes Confedera- tion Park a hub of family activity which also includes picnic areas, playgrounds, ball diamonds, a skateboard park, stage and tennis courts. Taber’s rich history is showcased

at the Taber Irrigation Impact Mu- seum.

The annual Taber Cornfest features – of course – lots of corn, and other fun besides. Nearby Vauxhall has a Canada

Day celebration that rivals its big-city brethren, along with high-calibre baseball with the Vauxhall Spurs and the Vauxhall Academy of Baseball Jets at Jets Stadium. The County of Lethbridge region

offers a wide variety of recreational activities throughout the summer. With everything from Park Lake Provincial Park to four golf courses in the region, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Alberta Birds of Prey Centre in

Coaldale is unique to North America and draws visitors from around the world. The Gem of the West Museum in

Coaldale has a collection of artifacts detailing the history of the region, all housed in a former church. The Prairie Tractor and Engine Mu-

seum operates Coyote Flats, a pio- neer village just south of Picture Butte. The agricultural history of the region and the village give visitors a look back into how the region first settled and how it has grown over the decades. Throughout the warmer months,

Forty Mile Park features a nine-hole frisbee golf course that is growing in popularity. 4 - ALBERTA INROADS 2019

there are plenty of recreational activi- ties for the whole family to enjoy in the Bow Island and Cypress County areas.
