Fort Macleod is that small town nestled just to the south east of the Unesco Head-Smashed-In Buffalo jump. Waterton is just an hour or so to the south. Calgary is just north, and Lethbridge just east. Fort Macleod is right in the middle at the crossroads of highways 2 & 3, and this small town has its own attractions to bring you in.
Here you will find the NWMP Fort Museum that commemorates the first attempt to civilize the west. The Empress Theatre is the finest ‘opera house’ still in operation. Our historic main street boasts architecture of the late 1800’s. You can also enjoy athletic triathlons and music festivals - Show and shine car shows and art & antique sales - Rodeos and baseball games - Rafting down the river or shopping at Market on Main each Thursday night in the summer. We even have our own micro-brewery that just opened its doors this spring.
And those are just the summer months. If you time it right, you may see a full-length feature film being shot on our streets or share some hot chocolate with your family and friends at our Santa Claus Parade - the first and largest Santa parade west of Toronto.
So come and experience this small town with the big heart. We think you’ll come back.
