here is certainly no shortage of golf opportuni-
ties for Medicine Hat and area enthusiasts, with five local courses featuring 18 holes. Three of them are
full-length, champi- onship calibre courses, while the other two offer shorter, but still challenging golf fun for people of all skill levels. The Medicine Hat
Golf and Country Club is located north of the South Saskatchewan River and is a gor- geous layout that has been home to many provincial and national cham- pionships. Connaught Golf Club is located in the centre of the city and will be playing host this July to the Alberta Summer Games 55-plus championship.

cine Hat is the 12-year-old Desert Blume Golf Club, which can be found about six kilometres southwest of the city. Its 18 holes wind their way through coulees and has the Seven Persons Creek serving as bound-
aries for several of its holes. Meanwhile, the Cot-
tonwood Coulee Golf Course serves up 18 holes, mostly par-3s, and is one of the most popular tracks in the Gas City. Within shout- ing distance of it in the coulee valley west of the Saamis Tepee is the tricky and challeng- ing par-3 Paradise Val- ley Golf Course. All the golf courses
are open to the public and all feature terrific food and beverage services as well as
outstanding golf opportunities. Thanks to the temperate climate of southeastern Alberta, the golf sea- son in this area is a little longer than in other places on the prairies, which makes Medicine Hat a golfer's mecca.
