FEI North American Youth Dressage
Junior and Young Rider competitors performed their freestyle tests to music on the final day of the Adequan® FEI North American Youth Championships pre- sented by Gotham North (NAYC) at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, NY. In the USDF North American Dressage Young Rider Freestyle Championship, Callie Jones and Don Philippo captured the gold medal. Annelise Klepper rode Hap- py Texas Moonlight to the gold medal in the USDF NA Dressage Junior Freestyle Championship.
The silver medal in the Young Rid-
er Freestyle went to Kayla Kadlubek (19, Fairfax Station, VA, a member of the Dis- cover Dressage™ USEF/USDF Emerg- ing Athlete Program) on Perfect Step, her 18-year-old Hanoverian gelding. They re- ceived a score of 73.505 percent. The pair also won the bronze medal in the Individ- ual Championship this week and helped USDF Region 1 to the team gold medal. Adding a bronze along with her two previous silver medals to her medal haul this week, Vanessa Creech-Terauds (19, Caistor Centre, Ontario) rode Fleur de Lis, Louise Leatherdale’s 10-year-old mare to the podium with a 73.490 percent. Callie Jones made a triumphant
return to the Adequan® FEI NAYC, presented by Gotham North, as she add- ed a second consecutive gold medal in the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) NA Young
Rider Individual
Championship to her record on August 3 with a score of 72.647 percent. Vanessa Creech-Terauds of Canada
claimed the silver medal, while Kayla Kadlubek of USDF Region 1 took the bronze. Both Jones and Kadlubek are members of the Discover Dressage™ USEF/USDF Emerging Athlete Program. On Thursday, Annelise Klepper as- sisted her USDF Region 2 team to the silver medal at the Adequan FEI North American Youth Championships present- ed by Gotham North (NAYC). However, her first trip to the NAYC got even better on Friday. Klepper, the youngest athlete in the class at 14-years-old, and Happy Texas Moonlight scored a personal best of 71.441 percent, winning gold in the USDF North American Junior Dressage
Klepper & Happy Texas Moonlight
Individual Championship. The United States swept the podium as Dennesy Rogers and Chanel earned silver with a score of 70.206 percent and Isabelle Braden and Dali de la Ferme Rose took bronze with a 70.147 percent.
Each of the United States Region 4 dressage team riders was competing in their first team championship as the team claimed gold in the United States Dres- sage Federation (USDF) North American Junior Dressage Team Championship at the Adequan® FEI North American Youth Championships (NAYC), present- ed by Gotham North, at Old Salem Farm in North Salem, NY.
The Region 4 riders posted a com-
bined score of 203.18 to take the gold over the U.S. Region 2 team, which earned sil- ver with a combined score of 202.63, and the U.S. Region 9 team, which collected a combined score of 199.63 for the bronze medal on the first day of NAYC compe- tition on July 31. Last year, the Region 4 Junior team claimed silver in the same event, but this was the first NAYC gold medal for a Region 4 dressage team. In the United States Dressage Fed- eration (USDF) North American Young Rider Dressage Team Championship, it came down to a solid team effort that propelled U.S. Region 1 team to gold in a close race for the medals at the Ade- quan® FEI North American Youth Cham- pionships (NAYC), presented by Gotham North, at Old Salem Farm in North Sa- lem, NY.
Region 1 team’s total of 205.70 was just fractions of a point higher than the Quebec/Ontario team’s total of 205.67, relegating the Canadian riders to the silver medal. The U.S. Region 3 team claimed bronze with a 205.08 total. w
