Highwood Group wins big as Housebuilder of the Year

The continuing success story of Romsey-based property developer, Highwood Group, appears to be unstoppable thanks to its new title of Housebuilder of the Year that has been bestowed by judges at the 2019 South Coast Property Awards

Highwood has already achieved enviable recognition during the 2019 awards season having competed on an international stage at this year’s BREEAM Awards 2019, being Highly Commended in the Post Construction Stage category for the North Stoneham Park community project, which also won Development of the Year at the South Coast Property Awards 2018. In May, Highwood was announced as a finalist in the Growth Story of the Year category in The Business Magazine’s Solent 250 Awards and ranked a respectable 34th in the Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100.

However, it is this, the coveted title of Housebuilder of the Year 2019 that has marked the Group’s ascendancy over the regional property market and the realisation of a goal that everyone at Highwood has long sought. Its emphatic grip on the south’s housebuilding stage is now assured, as chief executive officer Nigel Meek asserts.

“As we look to the future, we will endeavour to consolidate our strong position through the promotion of a number of exciting strategic land and care home projects that will all present terrific opportunities to improve both the infrastructure and housing provision that our communities’ local plans demand. This year will also see the development of Highwood’s stunning new headquarters building at our Romsey site, a move that will create superb employment prospects for the area’s workforce and ensure we’re in a position to grow our talent pool and in-house resources in line with our increasing land and construction project portfolio.”

Highwood’s landmark North Stoneham Park, the jewel in this portfolio crown, continues to make great progress as construction moves to the north of the 1100 unit-strong site where properties at the Homewood Park area are proving popular with local buyers. Indeed, the North Stoneham Park project is the subject of Highwood’s recent entry into the 2019 What House? Awards in the Best Partnership Scheme category to reflect the success of the relationship with its development partner, VIVID. The winner will be declared at a gala dinner at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House on November 15.

“For over 30 years, we have remained true to a philosophy to build homes of the highest, most distinctive quality in select locations that people aspire to live in,” he explained. “We’ve consistently strived to be recognised as the regional housebuilder of choice by our partners, peers and homebuyers and this award shows that we’ve accomplished just that.
