North Campus Mixed-Use Development Travis County’s first mixed-use, mixed-income development is now under construction in Austin

On June 3, 2019, Travis County Hous- ing Finance Corporation, in conjunction

with DMA Development Company and Southwest Strategies Group, celebrated the groundbreaking of its first mixed- use, mixed-income development, to in- clude 146 apartment units and 80,000+ square feet of office space that will be constructed on 3 acres owned by Travis County in North Central Austin.

DMA is the lead developer for Travis Flats which includes 146 apartment homes, with a mix of studios, one-bed- room, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments, along with a rich amenities package. 122 apartments will have rents affordable to persons at or below 60%

Area Median Income, currently $56,760 for a family of four. The remainder will be at market rents. Southwest Strategies is de- veloping the office component, which will house vital County constituent services, as well as a small community retail space. The office building and apartments will share a 5-story, centrally located parking garage.

TALHFA was well represented at the event with TALHFA First Vice President Andrea Shields and Second Vice President Diana Mc- Iver wielding shovels on behalf of Travis County HFC and DMA, respectively. TALHFA members David Saling (Chase Bank), Scott Marks (Coats Rose), Drew Foster (RedStone Equity), and Susan Wilson (Novogradac) – all part of the Travis Flats Development Team – were on hand to celebrate the festive occasion, as were several staff from Blazer Building, the contractor for Travis Flats.
