A Note From The President Dear TALHFA Members,
Happy summertime to one and all! I hope everyone has enjoyed some down time since the closing of the 86th Legislative Session. It was a busy Spring for all of us, especially Jeanne, Todd and Diana. Out of the 7,324 bills introduced, 1,429 passed, with only 56 being vetoed. Thanks to each of you who took the time to travel to Austin and help educate our Representatives and Senators on proposed legislation impacting affordable housing. The sharing of your expertise is incredible. It enhances our ability to further our mission by directly benefiting people in the communities we serve.
TALHFA Members have many challenges ahead in producing quality affordable housing to meet the growing demand. I have met so many leaders and strong professionals during my time spent with TALHFA. I have watched developers with grit, determina- tion, and hard work provide much needed housing for families on the edge. The communities we build today will serve our children’s generation of tomorrow.
As we head towards the dog day afternoons of August, remember to mark your calendars for October 2-4, 2019 and book your reservation at the Westin Oaks Houston at the Galleria. We have several wonderful Keynote Speakers, including Senator Eddie Lucio. Additionally, we’ll have news from the federal side, timely sessions and the best networking opportunities in the country.
See you soon! Sincerely,
President Patricia Ward Tarrant County HFC
