The public footpath crossing Aldon Lane neededmaintenance. The clerk had reported it. Pavement The clerk had reported that the footpath fromPlowenders lay-by to the Angel Innwas unstable. KCC said the resurfacing teamhad been asked to reviewthe footpath and patch itwhere necessary. Trees Therewere trees overhanging the pavement on Tro�iscliffe Road froma property called Peacehaven. KCC had arranged forworks to take place. Light Engineerswere due to inspect the faulty light at the junction of theA20 and Tro�iscliffe Road. Vegetation KCC had cleared the overgrowth thatwas blocking sightlines when turning on to theA20 fromthe Clearway. Road surfaces The surfaces at Park Road and Roughe�s Roadwere said to be breaking up andwere unlikely to survive anotherwinter. Bus service The clerkwas asked to contact the bus company again regarding the buseswaiting a long time at the bus stop in Tro�iscliffe Road and blocking the sight lines of neighbouring roads. HGV warning Due to ongoing problems with HGVs reversing onto theA20 from Church Road,when they find they are unable to get under the bridge, KCCwas consulting on newsignage. Itwas agreed to have no objection as long as the makeshift signs in the areawere removed.

Lizard lessons
GENTLY does it … Youngsters from one school in West Malling came face to face with some unlikely classmates in a lesson to study some of the planet’smini-beasts. Panda Class and year 1 took part in the
workshop, looking at the senses of certain species, such as the tortoise and lizards. The youngsters from Valley Invicta Primary School in Derby Drive, Leybourne Chase, looked at howthese creatures see, smell and taste their food and, in some cases, hear, as they strive to survive and flourish in their var- ious habitats. After getting used to their new class-
mates, the youngsters admitted to having had a brilliant time.

Cllr Harrison confirmed that the clubwas likely to be running 13 teams over the year and had set up ameetingwith The Chase to discuss pitch issues. Vegetation Cllr Ulph had requested a copy of the KCC and TMBC cu�ing schedule to sharewith residents. There had been problems cu�ing the grass next to the donkey field, due to cars being parked across the entrance, stopping the mower ge�ing in. Itwas agreed to apply for double yellowlines across the entrance.
Donations Itwas agreed tomake a donation of £250 to LeyARA, and £100 to CitizensAdvice.

Officers elected Cllr Jon Regan was appointed as chairman and Cllr Jenny Thorogood was appointed vice- chairman. Vacancies There were two vacancies on the parish council forAirfield Estate ward. The chairman proposed that Katherine Eykelenboombe co-opted to represent this ward and this was agreed unanimously. PCSO report The clerk said crime figures had not been received for some time. park.Members noted that speedingmotorcycles were still causing concern on SevenMile Lane. Church It was reported that Rev Pat Dicken would be leaving inAugust. The post would be advertised. Themerger withWateringbury would be going ahead. It was felt grass cu�ing had improved this year. The contract would be reviewed next year.
