Fun run and smiles
SCHOOL and clubs may have finished, but your local junior parkrun is there for you every Sunday morning. Come and join us at Manor Park Country Park in West Malling this summer, and you’ll never want a lie in on a Sunday again. Since October 2015, over 1,200 young runners have enjoyed our 2km course through beautiful Manor Park. And that doesn’t count the hundreds of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and other adults who join our youngsters. Fun is compulsory at parkrun; you go at your pace with a smile on your face and there is a troupe of awesome volunteers there to cheer and high five you the whole way round. It’s a fantastic way for the whole family to start and maintain a healthy activity together.
And we warn you now - once you’ve experienced the energy and enthusiasm from our young runners, their wonderful families and our volunteers - you won’t want to be anywhere else on a Sunday morning.
It’s not all about the running though - it’s about being part of a community and, even if running isn’t your bag, it’s incredibly rewarding and uplifting to volunteer and support our young superstars. Find out more at
http://www.parkrun.org.uk/manorpark-juniors All you need to do is to register online (it’s all completely free) and bring your barcode and a smile.
Budding volunteers
LARKFIELD Community Group is calling for volunteers to help with the planting, mowing and maintaining wildflower areas in roadside verges. Many wildflowers have been lost from the countryside due to intensive farming, and the group is trying to create mini meadows by the highways.
As organiser Jackie Hirsch explained: “It’s hard work with planting and raking, but we would like to brighten up our area and we’d like to hear from anyone interested in having a go.” If you are interested, contact Jackie at
