By Laurie Reed Recently Reed Farm

hosted at Cutting Horse Clinic at Ancaster Fair Grounds. Clinician Trey Wilson and his wife Pricilla Wilson travelled from Geor- gia US to introduce Cutting to some new faces and to help some of Ontario Cut- ting Horse Association members improve their skills.

Trey and Priscilla

Trey introduced some new Cutters to working on an re- mote controlled flag to mo- tivate the horse and the rider to imitate the movement of a cow in a controlled situation. On the Saturday and Sunday participants worked on the flag as well as cattle in both the morning and afternoon. Trey identified areas each rider needed to focus on with their showmanship skills. He encouraged riders to be more confident when cutting their cows out the herd. How to control the flow of the herd and step up past the “ traffic”. To sit into their stops before turning with the cow and allow the cow to pull their horse through the turn.
