12/ JULY 2019 THE RIDER The Ultimate Cowboy Triple Crown Challenge The Ultimate Cowboy

Challenge is a grass roots equine challenge within Southern On- tario. This event combines obsta- cles, speed and the skills found in ranch or farm-based work, with the camaraderie of trail riding and the fun, competitive specta- cle of racing. What separates the Ultimate Cowboy Challenge from other equine obstacle races, is its commitment to remaining

local, multidisciplinary, transpar- ent and cost effective (no mem- bership fees). The Ultimate Cowboy Challenge is open to any discipline of riding (Western or English) as well as any breed of horse. This type of cross-training is great for both horse and rider, as it strengthens the trust and partnership necessary to ride safely and de-sensitizes horses to a wide variety of objects and sit-

uations. The Ultimate Cowboy

Triple Crown Challenge has three events throughout the year, starting at Second Chance Ranch in Scotland, Ontario on August 10, 2019. The second leg of the challenge is in conjunction with the Ancaster Fair on September 21, 2019. The final leg of the challenge is in conjunction with the Norfolk County Fair on Oc-

tober 14, 2019. It boasts a prize purse of $1,500.00 at each venue with an additional $1,000.00 prize purse available to those ex- hibitors who are eligible for the Triple Crown Challenge or are able to compete in all three events. The Ultimate Cowboy Challenge has three divisions all based on rider ability: Beginner (for those individuals with mini- mal experience); Advanced (in- tended for well

rounded, Nu-Image®

Nu-Image® is a scientifically formulated nutritional supplement rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 Fatty Acids, fortified with Biotin, Zinc, Amino Acids, and is designed to promote the growth of

lustrous hair, mane and tail. Nu-Image is a high quality coat conditioner with exceptional value at pennies per day - even less than corn oil, without the mess. Formulated to work with all feeding programs and other supplements safely, without fear of over-supplementation, use Nu-Image to give your horse a Show Quality Coat in as little as ten days

confident riders or profession- als); and Gamblers Choice. The Beginner and Advanced division are judged based on the execu- tion of each obstacle, time and horsemanship skills. In the Gam- blers Choice division, however, each obstacle has a pre-deter- mined score. Horse and rider teams have a set time to compete as many obstacles as possible on a pass/fail basis. The Gamblers Choice division has proven to be both an exhibitor and fan favourite, because every run is different and exciting, as individ- ual strategies play a huge role in the team’s success. Challenge is also different in that it offers playdates or open rides throughout the summer at Second Chance Ranch and winter months at Ancaster Fairground ($20.00 per horse and proof of Insurance required) where any- one can come and try out our amazing obstacles at their own pace or in a more relaxed atmos- phere. Additionally, the challenge courses for both the beginner and advanced divisions are posted prior to the race dates so that ex- hibitors can practice and prepare. This helps to reduce the stress for both horse and rider as we be- lieve that showing or competing is supposed to be a fun learning experience that builds the rela- tionship with your horse and that’s ultimately what we want people to walk away with.
