LIVE 24-SEVEN

Instagram is a great source of ideas, you see something and think ‘oh I might try that’ it’s a great source of inspiration on things I can take. Not everyone gets to take a catwalk look and wear it on the High Street without raising a few eyebrows [laughing]. I try to wear things that bring me joy at the same time!

You brought everyone joy the other night with what you wore to the Baftas, you looked absolutely gorgeous! Did you feel good? Do you get nervous about red carpet events now, after so many? Ahh thank you Katie! You do, that one is peculiar because you try on a few outfits and you’re not sure what to go for. We’ve got a lovely lady called Debbie at Good Morning Britain who helps us with the styling and she came along to the appointment with me and as soon as I tried that dress on she went ‘[sigh] that’s amazing’ and the designer in the shop said the same, so I sometimes go on other people’s reactions and it’s hard to look at an outfit like that objectively when it’s on you! We tried on a lot of dresses that all looked lovely, but this was given the seal of approval so let’s go for it – and I’m glad I did go for it! Again, it was one of our make up team who said ‘this is how I think you should have your hair; I think you should go straight’. That looked lovely on you… Thanks…It was a big departure from my normal style! I was a little bit nervous because I’d not styled it like that before and I was thinking ‘if this goes wrong, it’s quite a public way to go wrong’ but it was a lovely reaction from everybody so I was really thrilled.

You make looking fabulous in the morning look so very easy, but the 3am start and four-year-old child…do you find that easy? You always look so fresh faced! Listen, we have a great hair and make-up team and they did an amazing job, because I can assure you that I only had about three hours’ sleep after the Baftas and was not feeling bright eyed and bushy tailed at all. I think one thing that doing my job has taught me is that I always used to have nine hours’ sleep religiously otherwise I’d moan about feeling tired and would think I hadn’t functioned at my best, but now I just think sometimes you have a

great day on not much sleep at all so don’t get hung up about getting into bed at a certain time and getting a certain amount of sleep. I do try to get into bed just after my daughter – so I have the bedtime of a four-year-old [laughing] on days when I’m not going out to the Baftas. I try to make up for the sleep at other times and personally make sure that if I can’t get an afternoon nap or as much sleep as I like, I have this App that I use – a mindful App – and I just do a ten-minute meditation. Sometimes just powering your brain down and just having ten minutes of quiet can really recharge your batteries and refresh. I have friends that swear by meditation. It does really help Katie. I find it really hard to switch off though, to unwind? I know some people can’t switch off and it can go the other way, but it’s a good thing to practice and get the hang of.

My friend thinks you’re in league with the devil, as you look so young... [laughing] …So, she said I had to ask you, what are the three cosmetic items that you couldn’t live without? And she will lynch me if I don’t ask? That’s a good one. Ummm, it depends on what the occasion is, but let me narrow it down. I’ve just been on holiday actually and the things I wouldn’t live without on that is a tinted moisturiser, umm a mineral powder just for your face and a mascara – how many am I up to? As I was going to say and a bit of blusher, but I think that’s past my three! So, I think you can actually do a lot with foundation, mascara and blusher – but it has to be the right ones! Now, GMB lost out on the Bafta, which I think was really annoying… I know, I know… I can’t remember turning on Channel 4! But you all seem really competitive, are you like that off screen? [laughing] No! [laughing] Piers is the competitive one. I was thrilled that we were not only nominated once, but twice – it was a strong field and I think it’s amazing to be nominated. Of course it’s a shame we didn’t win, but for Piers it’s winning or nothing! If you don’t win,
