ON THE COVER:In our Spotlight this month, Marr Contracting Pty Ltd, known commonly as The Men From Marr’s, recently completed a demanding project for the Sydney Metro in Australia. Here, a birds-eye view of the congested worksite shows the position of two heavy-lift luffing jib cranes, the M1680D (foreground) and M2480D (background) which were used in lieu of crawlers, in relation to the Castle Hill station box. Designed to meet the geotechnical considerations of the site, the position of the crane foundations adjacent to the station box allowed the cranes to carry out lifts on both sides of the construction area. See our Spotlight on page 22 for much more on this project.
