Graham Froud, workshop manager at

Swanage Railway, said: “This is the first time this locomotive, which we brought into the workshop on a low-loader, has been lifted this way; all other lifts would have been done from above. The loco will do approx. 10,000 miles a year. It can run for 28 days at a time, at which point it would be due a boiler exam. It is also able to undertake mainline work all over the country, if and when required. There are only a small number of locos that can do this. Modulift’s management of the whole project was first rate from start to finish”. Modulift design, manufacture and supply

fully certified custom lifting beams, frames and attachments with working load limits from 100kg to 5000t. y

Metegrity Announces VisionsGo: First of its Kind Mobile Solution for Asset Inspections

> Metegrity, a globally trusted provider of quality and asset integrity management (AIM) software solutions, today announces the launch of VisionsGo: a new mobile technology for asset inspections management. This first-of-its-kind technology empowers companies with the ability to execute, perform, collect and analyze all asset inspection data directly from the field via mobile tablet. It was created to address an industry need

for fast, secure exchange of inspection data. A recognized challenge existed in the way that traditional asset inspections were conducted: too much time spent manually collecting data via paper processes and waiting for the results to be reported. Metegrity recognized the potential for a much better, more efficient, and more secure system. How does it work? Companies can assign

work from Visions, the main asset integrity system into the mobile app. Inspectors can then organize their work and use the app to collect inspection data on the go. All results can then be synced to a robust, secure Cloud database – where they can be reviewed for quality assurance. The result? Faster access to data for accelerated decision making. Improved productivity. Saved time. Reduced data entry and human error. Easier, quicker, and more transparent inspection processes. Unlike other tools on the market, where all AIM data can be accessed on the app,

> The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) is to hold a Lifting & Rigging Technical Forum on 24 September in Amsterdam (Novotel Schiphol Airport) with the theme ‘Offshore Lifting: Training, Certification, Competency’. This one-day seminar devised by IMCA

in conjunction with TechnipFMC provides an opportunity for IMCA members to participate in an industry forum considering both the human and technical aspects of crane operations in an offshore environment. Free to attend for IMCA members plus

invited guests this one-day seminar will consider current industry needs in terms of training, certification and competency requirements. Attendees will have the opportunity of participating in Q&A sessions and workshops and will therefore help formulate the program going forward for IMCA’s Lifting & Rigging Committee.

VisionsGo makes it possible to limit the data accessed by different parties for added security. All assigned work, objectives, and resulting quality assurance are handled by the main AIM system, which helps protect the company’s data and integrity objectives. “We are thrilled to announce the launch

of this cutting-edge technology, and the incredible time and cost savings it will offer our customers,” says Adrian Met, CEO of Metegrity. “For over 25 years, Visions has been trusted with asset integrity management for corporations all over the world. Now, clients can harness the power of mobile technology to support their digital transformation journey.” y

IMCA to Stage Lifting and Rigging Technical Forum

[INDUSTRY NEWS] The seminar comprises four major

sessions – “Background and Operators’ Experience”, “Training Facilities, Courses and Certification”, “Supplier training and how new technology is introduced” and “Current and future challenges for Crane Operators and Riggers”. In addition to speakers drawn from

IMCA member companies including TechnipFMC, Subsea 7 and Van Oord who will be joined by experts from OPITO, Enermac (Sparrow), OSC and Mintra Group. Sessions will be chaired by Mark Ford, Technical Director, IMCA, and Chairman of IMCA’s Lifting & Rigging Committee, David Cannell, Technical Manager, TechnipFMC.

Mark Ford, Technical Director, IMCA sets out the aims of the event:

“This year’s seminar will concentrate on Offshore cranes – with a specific focus on training, certification and competency. Combining both the human and the technical aspects of crane operations in an offshore environment. The forum should provide a strong view of current industry needs, training, certification and competency requirements and will help to formulate the program going forward. “The aims of the event include

communicating the latest codes, products and developments and helping identify common issues and needs between offshore contractors. This can be fed into future development strategies and code/guideline improvements. This is an ideal opportunity to further discussions in the industry. “We are looking forward to welcoming

representatives from a variety of subsea contractors, offshore crane designers/ manufacturers, equipment suppliers, crane training and academic institutions.” The full programme is online on the

IMCA website at www.imca-int.com/events - those interested in attending should register their interest as soon as possible by emailing events@imca-int.com. IMCA’s Marine Renewables Seminar

with its theme ‘Working together for safe and efficient operations’ will be held the day after this event on 25 September at the same venue. For details of sponsorship opportunities
