Sal Giunta, recipient of the Medal of Honor, America’s highest award for armed service members for valor in combat, gave a very fast-paced account of his journey – physical and attitudinal – from the aimless certainty of the


average teenager to decorated veteran. His story is largely about teamwork – how important


a group of people you serve with and train with become to you, and how that eventually becomes the single most important thing to you, beyond consideration for yourself. In 2017, the former Staff Sargent gave his Medal of Honor to the 173rd Airborne Brigade in a ceremony in Vicenza, Italy, feeling that they rather than he had earned it.
