[EDITOR’S NOTE]
Summertime and the living is easy? So goes the old cliché – but from everyone we’ve spoken to lately, it’s probably more accurate to say that the living is… busy! So let us start by thanking you for taking time to have a look at this latest issue of Wire Rope Exchange. We enjoyed speaking with many of you at the most recent
AWRF meeting in Cleveland. It was a great venue, and the mood on the floor of the Product Information Exhibition (PIE) was very positive. Tere were some tweaks to the format of this meeting compared to recent AWRF events we have attended,
some subtle, some a bit more dramatic. And based on numerous attendees we heard from, the changes we noted were very well received. Check out our Feature article for a recap of the exhibition, conference and
entertainment. If a picture is worth a thousand words, we hope those we selected to include with this article get the job done conveying the spirit of the event – it’s not one that will be forgotten anytime soon. On a different note, we often write about new technologies that have potential to transform the way we work. Tere is no question that the digital revolution has served up an astonishingly variety of productivity enhancements large and small that we take advantage of to varying degrees. We have also written in the past about the organizational challenges of adopting new tools and methods. In our second feature in this issue, we take a look at another aspect of technology, the
importance of cybersecurity awareness. Digital technology, from your email system to the Internet of Tings, also brings risks that we may not all be aware of. And they can be costly and time consuming. Tis is certainly an instance where an ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure.
Again in this issue we have quite a lengthy section of Industry News – there is a lot
going on! Be sure to also check out our Update department near the back of this issue as well. Tere we share a report on a recent event where Crane Industry Service (CIS) hosted CM Labs for a demonstration of their new Vortex Edge Plus portable crane training simulator. We also talk with Hany Tadros of TexWeb about the genesis of their TexChain product, and how that’s been received in the market. As always, if you have a product or project you’d like to share with a wider audience,
we are always interested in developing stories for publication from our readers. We look forward to hearing from you!
