EDUCATIONAL FACILITIES Norfork SCHOOLS NORFORK – The Norfork School Dis-
trict’s administrators and teachers work year-round to prepare for annual state tests. Norfork students have had out- standing scores for several years on Benchmark Tests.
The school also has a sixth- and sev-
enth-grade computer literacy and tech- nology lab. Approximately 444 students attend
Norfork Schools. Local funding for the school district
comes from a 34.39 mill property tax, which was increased with voter approv- al in 2007 from a previous rate of 31.69. In 2014, Arrie Goforth Elementary
was named a National Blue Ribbon School, one of only four Arkansas schools nominated for this prestigious

award. Blue Ribbon schools demon- strate consistent excellence and make progress in closing gaps in student achievement. Norfork Schools also has a Head Start and ABC program directed by Shannon Gardner and administered by Ozark Opportunities Inc. For more informa- tion, call Vann at (870) 499-5611 or Ozark Opportunities in Harrison at (870) 741-9406. Norfork Schools are fully accredited
by the state accrediting agency, and the high school and elementary schools are accredited by AdvancED. The school board meets at 6 p.m. on
the third Monday every month in the school administration building at 44 Fireball Lane.
