LIVE 24-SEVEN EXTINCT BUT ALIVE ! ! !
About this time last year I was waxing exceedingly lyrical about an absolute gem (or should I say a smack in the eye !!!) that my team and I found in the Arte showroom at London Design Week, namely Flavor Paper. Flavor Paper is an American company from the creative heart of Brooklyn, New York that thrives on extravagant designs and a bold attitude.
They are known in the scene for producing exclusive designer wallpapers made by hand, in partnership with external designers such as Kravitz Design - the singer and artist Lenny Kravitz’s design studio.

So . . . (do you know I really hate it when people begin a sentence with “So . . .” – my English teacher would be revolving in his grave !) Anyway, there we were at this year’s London Design Week, and once again we had left it til last to visit the Arte showroom, knowing we’d find something fabulous to set us up for the journey home. And my goodness we certainly weren’t disappointed !!!
Arte is a European designer and manufacturer of high-end wallcoverings based in Belgium, enjoying a solid reputation in the fields of quality, technical expertise, service and innovation. All of their offerings exude both style and substance, and we are pleased to carry many of their pattern books in our showroom.
This year they have collaborated with Moooi wallcoverings.
Moooi is the extraordinary Dutch design brand founded by Marcel Wanders. For more than a decade the brand has inspired and seduced the world with sparkling and innovative creations.
Their latest offering is the fabulous Extinct Animals collection, inspired, I’m told, by their very own museum of extinct animals. It consists of 1 absolute showstopper of a design, which incorporates 10 magnificent extinct animals in a jungle setting, complemented by 10 other really diverse wallcoverings.
The main wallcovering, available in 4 beautiful colourways, is called Menagerie of Extinct Animals (does what it says on the tin), and is a fantastically rich fauna design, digitally printed onto a glorious soft-touch textile with a non-woven backing, in which each of the 10 extinct animals are mysteriously hidden.
Each of the 10 animals featured then gets its own wallcovering, inspired by its own particular characteristics. Some designs narrate a story, others stimulate the senses using imagery and textures. Striking combinations of colours, features and patterns of fur, plumage or skin conspire to bring it vividly back to life on our walls. They’re all pretty spectacular, but a few of the stand-out designs are really worth a special mention. Bearded Leopard is a foil based wallcovering lined with cork and a flock finish – yes, it really has managed to magnificently combine all those 3 elements, each of which would be fabulous in its own right - based on the fur of the Bearded Leopard, pale yellow to
