In Birmingham, to celebrate the relaunch of the Lamborghini Birmingham showroom and the unveiling of the Lamborghini EVO, we chatted to the CEO of the EMEA Region Andrea Baldi about the growing line-up, the future direction of the brand and the curated customer journey that includes some beautiful events…
Interview by Katie McPhilimey
Andrea, you’re admiring my Louis Vuitton bag – when I last spoke to Lamborghini, we chatted about designer brands and luxury brands collaborating, are there any recent collaborations that you can share? Yes, Lamborghini has always had a licencing agreement because many brands want to be associated with it, for obvious reasons. It’s nice to gain exposure in areas where we wouldn’t normally be and Oppo is one – we weren’t exposed on Chinese mobiles until Oppo proposed us. They made a very nice telephone for us. China is an important market and the taxes there make the car even more expensive, tripling its price, so this deal gives people the chance to have some sort of product association with the brand.
We will also look at good relationships, but when a brand is very strong itself it may not always knock on our door, and likewise we wouldn’t necessarily go knocking other people’s doors, unless we see a brand association that has great potential in terms of sharing customers.
This happens with fashion brands; we did a beautiful event in Italy with customers coming from England to drive cars and at the end of it Dolce & Gabbana were hand-painting shoes – like your bag – and this customisation was part of the experience. Customisation is also important to our brand and customers, we discuss this when they come to buy their car every time now – it’s next level!
