a lovely estate. The good news is you will stay in your own one of a kind country home on the 113-acre property. Winvian Farm consists of 18 eclectic cottages all uniquely designed by different architects. Each one is more interesting than the next. I stayed in a 3-story cottage called Stable. The modern multi-level architecture comprised of a comfortable living room with wood burning fi re, a lovely bedroom overlooking the woods and an open bath- room complete with a whirlpool tub and steam shower. Tasteful art of horse scenes adorned every room. I could have happily stayed the week.

tages are Treehouse, which delights kids young and old; Helicopter-in-a-Hangar Cottage, which houses a 1968 Sikorsky Sea King Pelican HH3F helicopter, Stone, which has a rustic feel with its massive stone fi replace (your dog can also join you in this one), and Artist, a charming arts- and-crafts bungalow.

anctuary Power Yoga offers Power Flow, Open Flow, Slow Flow and Gentle/ Restorative classes. We've given our classes these labels, because we believe it helps give students an idea of what each of our classes are like. But we truly believe that yoga at Sanctuary is for every-body; you don't need previous yoga experience to take class with us. The names of our classes may help you choose a class style, but we don't want it to limit you. In any class, you can do what you need to do to take care of yourself, be it take rest or practice handstand.


S We love bringing people together in the


studio to practice, but we also love see- ing each person creating a practice that is


uniquely right for him or her. You also don't need to pre-register for classes - you can simply show up. Our new student special is 30 days of unlimited yoga for $30 (plus tax). This means that you can take as many classes as you like in either studio (Canton/ Torrington). It's a great opportunity to try all our classes and meet our well-trained teach- ers. We offer a special "weekender" pass: 2 weekend classes for $30.

cruisers for long journeys on the country roads in the area or to the town of Litch- fi eld. If you would like to be pampered and rejuvenated, the Spa is world class.


You can fi sh, kayak, or canoe on


Bantam Lake. There is also tennis, golf, horseback riding or hot air ballooning. Or merely indulge the senses in Winvian Farm’s organic gardens, play croquet, volleyball or bocce ball on the property. In bad weather they have a Games Room with a salon-sized pool table, foosball, and table-top shuffl eboard.


You don’t have to stay at Winvian Farm


to enjoy a prix fi xe, three-course menu at $98 per person or a four-course menu at $115 per person. I highly recommend din- ing there for a special occasion. I enjoyed an extraordinary meal of quail, duck and an artfully created chocolate cake. Winvian Farm’s Executive Chef Chris Eddy is lead- ing a culinary revolution with his seed-to- table philosophy. The freshest, most natural non-GMO ingredients are harvested daily from their organic gardens, honey apiary, henhouse, root cellar, and fruit trees to cre- ate exceptional seasonal menus for a truly luxurious fi ne dining experience.
