attending Babson College. With a passion for the spa industry and an entrepreneurial spirit, she suggested an idea to her parents that they buy spa. Her father said no. But, he encouraged Megan to purchase it herself and become an entrepreneur at the age of 19. Without any experience in business, most teenagers probably would have gotten discouraged and given up their dream. Not Megan. This amazing young woman joined a hatchery and mentorship program at Babson, applied for a small business loan for women and she got it! She came back every week- end to work on the grand opening, starting with 8 staff members. After one year, her staff had grown to 13 and then 30 people.

In 2016, at 85% capacity and starting to see a lot of competition from other area spas, Megan knew the Litchfield Spa was due for an overhaul. Again, her knack for business and knowledge of the industry served her well. The Spa at Litchfield Hills recently reopened, doubling its size and launching a boutique experience with 12 Mani/Pedi stations, a skincare department with medical Estheticians, a full-service hair salon and a boutique store selling organic, Indie products that Megan finds around the world.

towards leading a holistic lifestyle free of chemicals and toxins, The Spa at Litchfield Hills is doing its part too. For nail service, they offer organic lines of nail polish free of toxic ingredients at a price point you can’t beat - $15 - $35. The spa uses unique lines like Karma Organics with essential oils and Smith & Cult known for longer lasting lacquer that is non-toxic.

In their skincare department, Estheti-

cian Laura Duffany has worked with plastic surgeons and medical doctors and has cultivated a strong and knowledgeable skincare team at the spa. Her favorite line is Skinceuticals for spa facials and daily skincare regime. The spa offers dermaplan- ing, medical grade peels and microderm- abrasion among other skincare services.

A favorite skincare line of Megan’s is IS clinical skincare which is botanical based, but not organic. She recommends the Ac- tive Serum which is a superstar product for anti-aging, refining pores, and acne. If you have a special night coming up that you want your skin to look its best, try the hot- test new Fire and Ice treatment.

Ayurvedic treatments and line. The Kansa wand, an Ayurvedic healing tool made of bronze and copper, has an alkalizing effect on the skin. After cleansing, an oil is applied

One of the exciting things we talked about is their new boutique. Here is where Megan hand picks unique, organic, Indie products that you won’t find anywhere else. Some of her favorites: Love spell bath salts for a new moon and full moon bath; Wildfolk handmade in Oregon; Open heart apothecary which makes a headache relief rollerball, muscle tension rollerball, and anointing oils; Tailfeather all natural organ- ic feminine wipes; Patchology sheet mask facial; Organic candles that burn clean coconut wax; Dream Mist Lavendar sheet spray; and fashion accessories from all over the world including cashmere ponchos from Nepal, beaded handbags from Africa, and beaded leather flipflops from Kenya. All feel good products that are a nice treat and many under $20.

Don’t miss their Spa days where you can indulge in a massage, Mani/Pedi, Blow- dry and style, and complimentary lunch if you book 4 services.
