PROJECTS & CONTRACTS 29
Fast completion of new BM3 line at RDM Arnsberg
A
modernised board machine was started up at RDM Arnsberg GmbH in Germany
in January by Andritz after a delivery time of just eight months. In the contract to build the BM3 machine, Andritz was responsible for the new design of the feed system for the new headbox, adapting the required dewatering capacity, and for recirculation of the white water. The components supplied by
Andritz are set up for a future production speed of 1,000m/ min and enable a significant improvement in the quality of
formation as well as enhancing the profile stability of the top ply to obtain better processability of the finished products. At the start up, the production speed of the 3.63 metre working width line was about 780 metres per minute. The equipment supplied by
Andritz includes a PrimeFlow SW headbox for the top ply, including a new headbox pipe, new dewatering elements, as well as a new white water channel. In addition to installation of new frame parts needed for the top ply wire, the couch press frame was also repaired and adapted to meet future production
requirements. The work on the press frame and installation was carried out by Andritz Local Service Mönchengladbach. Close collaboration between Andritz and RDM ensured the success and punctual completion of the project. With total capacity of almost one million tons a year, the RDM Group is the second-largest producer of coated recycled fibre board in Europe and the largest in Italy, France and the Iberian Peninsula. The group also manufactures products based on virgin fibre. Arnsberg produces coated liner grades for packaging
A.Celli to supply two printing machines in China
Foshan Huahan Sanitary Material Co, a Chinese company that specialises in flexo printing on baby diapers, has installed two model 1805 Iridium printing machines from A.Celli in Italy. The Iridium printer is
intended for both short and long runs and means that Foshan Huahan Sanitary Material is able to quickly
respond to its customers’ production needs. The Model 1805 is equipped with Nexus film re-winder, patented by A.Celli Nonwovens, enabling the automatic alignment of the multi slitting and core device with the printing path, and minimising the set up time and waste during the start up. The machine also incorporates
quick job changes, automatic job set up, an automatic washing system, video camera checking that includes 100 per cent quality control and dynamic repeat length adjustment and controls that reduce waste due to inhomogeneous material. The drying system is designed
to improve environmental protection and energy savings,
and can switch from solvent- based to water-based inks to meet the trend of green production and zero-VOC emissions. Maintenance is said to be easier and more accessible, as the machine incorporates an automatic CI washing system and it is possible to disassemble the drying boxes from the side for cleaning.
Better web formation for Unionpel’s PM1 line
Unionpel, a leading packaging paper manufacturer in Argentina, has installed a MasterJet Pro headbox fitted with EdgeMaster format limiters
from Voith on the PM1 paper machine at its San Justo mill in Buenos Aires. The MasterJet Pro headbox enables the paper maker to
achieve significant improvements in web formation, as well as a significant decrease of CD basis-weight variations. The erection, commissioning and
start-up services were completed by Voith as scheduled, and the machine’s commercial production was resumed immediately after start-up.
