The festival countdown starts here, diary dates & gig guide, plus local commemoration and win tickets to Rye International Jazz & Blues
performances from 4th May-30th August. The popular annual open-air summer Festival, now in its 36th year, takes place in the spectacular award- winning gardens of Hever Castle, childhood home of Anne Boleyn, one of Kent’s top tourist attractions, where audiences can picnic prior to performances on the Two Sister’s Lawn and admire the breath-taking views over the Hever Lake. And there’s no need for festival-goers to worry about the unpredictable British weather – the theatre, set in the Two Sister’s Lawn Garden, is fully covered and the seating is tiered with the vast majority of seats under new seating canopies.

Alongside an outstanding line-up of acts, artists and performances over its 35-year history, there has also been: • 17,625 afternoon teas served and 73,894 bottles of fi zz popped. • 41,273 picnic blankets have been sat on, including one that came all the way from Oman. • 10,428 Union Jack fl ags have been waved during the Last Night of the Hever Proms.
• 9 ghosts have been spotted in the theatre garden late at night! • 6 ducks have walked across the stage mid-performance. • 0 audience members have fallen in the lake, although several have been spotted picnicking with wet feet!
Highlights this year include Britain’s Got Talent winner Lee Ridley aka Lost Voice Guy, supported by BGT semi-fi nalist Jonny Awsum, while broadcaster and national treasure Jeremy Vine will be making an appearance with What the Hell is Going On? Icons of jazz Mica Paris, Courtney Pine (with special guest Omar) and Milos Karadaglic will be performing as part of the Rye International Jazz and Blues Festival over the May Bank Holiday weekend, while perennial favourite, Last Night of the Hever Proms will return on Sunday 25th August, and Lee Mead, who shot to prominence after winning the BBC series Any Dream Will Do, brings My Story: A Dream That Became a Reality to the festival. Gates for evening performances open at 6.30pm, performances start at 8pm. Gates for matinee performances open 30 minutes before start time.
