What is shockwave therapy? Shockwave therapy is a clinically proven treatment for a range of soft tissue injuries and can be incredibly effective in treating conditions such as Plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, tennis elbow and more, with success rates documented at 77%
What are the advantages of shockwave therapy? Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment without the risk or recovery time commonly associated with surgery. This means that a sufferer can be treated without anaesthesia or medication and can continue to carry normal activities during and after the treatment.
Does it work? Research has shown that shockwave therapy is incredibly effective in treating chronic tendon conditions that have not seen improvement
through traditional physiotherapy. Studies have shown an impressive success rate of 77%. It’s also recommended by NHS -NICE guidelines
Does it hurt? Shockwave therapy may cause mild discomfort during a session, much like a deep tissue massage. Adjustments can be made to keep a patient comfortable if necessary.
What is involved in a course of shockwave therapy? Each session is comprised of a treatment lasting 20-25 minutes. This is supported by manual therapy techniques performed on the surrounding soft tissue using a variety of treatment protocols.
How much does it cost? The total cost of 4 weekly sessions of shockwave is £350. This also includes a 12 week follow up appointment.
