NAME: Nichole Clark COMPANY: Transition Computing JOB TITLE: Business development manager
WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND? My career started in childcare in various roles, I also completed my Psychology degree at Brunel University in 2012. In 2016, I joined Barclaycard as a sales representative and a year later became the Business development manager at Transition.
WHAT DOES YOUR COMPANY DO? Transition develops and supports bespoke software that our clients rely on every day to effectively run their businesses. We understand different processes, meaning we are able to provide the most appropriate solution that enables clients to automate workflow, maintain service levels, and generate new business.
HOW DID IT ALL START? The two directors started the business back in 1998, with the business idea established in The Tawny Owl in Milton Keynes. David Gibson is the managing director and Jon Hillyer is the technical director. It was the era of ‘Y2K’ and they wanted Transition to focus on web technologies.
WHAT’S YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR? I have only been at the company for 18 months, so I would say it was doing my first 10-minute talk for the Chamber. It allowed me to showcase our business and the feedback was great.
WHAT HAS SURPRISED YOU MOST IN YOUR JOB? I am always surprised when we find out the length of time companies have been using inefficient systems, and the amount of manual entry required. I enjoy being part of helping make business processes more efficient.
WHICH BUSINESS PERSON OR COMPANY DO YOU MOST ADMIRE, AND WHY? I know he is not technically a business person, but I admire actor David Jason as he didn’t start his career until his late 40s. His hard work and tenacious attitude shows it’s never too late to follow your dreams.
WHAT MADE YOU JOIN MILTON KEYNES CHAMBER? The Chamber is constantly promoting other businesses on social media, we also heard great things from other members and wanted to experience it for ourselves.
