Why not try our very popular and delicious Sunday Lunches Please book to avoid any disappointment

WHETHER you are making a day of it this February 14th or you are wanting to be in the good books in the morning after the night before, a lazy brunch is a delightful thing to smooch over. Spicy food, with all that

chilli rush and wealth of flavours, is great for the emotions, it stokes the fire and warms you up all over. But spice doesn’t have to mean burning heat, you don’t even have to put in any chilli peppers or dried powder at all, if that kick isn’t your thing. Earthy fragrant and zingy

Halesworth Campus

AT the end of January, the Trustees of Halesworth Campus and our partners held a public exhibition at Halesworth Library to showcase the latest proposals for the development of the Campus site (on the corner of Norwich Road and Harrisons Lane). Representatives from Sentinel Leisure Trust, Castlemeadow Care and Construction Training Specialists, together with the Trustees, hosted a steady trickle of visitors. We are very excited about the

project and the positive impact it will have on the town, and it is important to us to get the views of the people who live here. The exhibition was a great success and we had a lot of supportive comments. People were interested and engaged and

asked a lot of questions! Here are some of the ones we heard most often: What will the site include?

We have prioritised the development into phases. Phase one will include: A new care home, with beds that the NHS can commission; Supported dwellings for senior people promoting independent living in later life; Fitness suite with 50+ workout stations; Three multi-purpose studios; Full- size, floodlit, all-weather 3G pitch; Full-size grass pitch for football and rugby; Hard courts for tennis and netball; A community cafe; Up-to- date facilities for vocational training and apprenticeships; Classrooms and a community space; Landscaped areas including a play area, perimeter

track, public art and casual recreation space; Walkways and cycle paths to, from and around the site; Parking in line with Sport England requirements for ‘normal usage’, plus possible overflow parking; Replacement facilities for the Apollo Youth Club, subject to additional funding. Future phases, subject to

funding, will include: Three- court multi-sports hall, suitable for badminton and cricket nets; A community swimming pool. How will it be funded?

Funding will come from several sources. The main contribution is coming from the sale of land owned by Halesworth Campus, while other monies will be provided by a variety of sources such as developers, Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL),

sporting national governing bodies and other external funding streams. Why are the nursing home

and residential units being built? Halesworth does not have a nursing home and, with the demise of the Patrick Stead Hospital, there is a need for beds in Halesworth. Halesworth Campus will include a care home with nursing plus dementia care and extra-care apartments. Castlemeadow Care was selected as our preferred partner to deliver the health provision. The sale of land to Castlemeadow Care will raise some of the funding required to develop other parts of the Campus. What’s happening about

the planning? The planning application will be submitted in two parts: February 2019 Submission of detailed plans for healthcare and all-weather pitch only, and outline plans for all the remaining sports facilities. June 2019 Submission of

detailed plans for the remaining Phase one sports facilities. When will you start work on

site and when will the facilities be open? If all goes smoothly with planning and the funding streams, we expect to be able to start on site in the autumn of 2019. The 3G pitch will be constructed first due to its requirement of a 12-month settling period before use. During this time the first phase of the indoor provision will be completed. Therefore, it is likely that the facilities can be completed and opened for the autumn/winter of 2020/21.

spices such as cumin, coriander seed, cinnamon stick, fennel seed, curry leaves, none of them pack any punch, they just add lots of flavour. If you are novice to chillies, choose a large mild red chilli, remove the seeds and finely chop it, adding just a teaspoon to a stir fry for four and you will get

Herby-spiced Arabian tomato stew and baked eggs (serves 2 heartily) Local rapeseed oil 1 large onion, cut in quarters and thinly sliced 2 bell peppers, preferably yellow and red, halved, seeded and thinly sliced A few garlic cloves, peeled and thinly sliced 1 tsp sweet smoked paprika 1 tsp toasted cumin seeds, ground Cayenne pepper or chilli flakes, to taste 1 – 2 mild red chillies, very finely sliced (seeds removed) 2 tins plum tomatoes, roughly chopped, with juice Maldon sea salt and black peppermill 4 large free range eggs Small packet Greek feta cheese, drained and crumbled Coriander or basil leaves to garnish Warm flatbreads or pitta to serve Pre-heat the oven to 175c. Oil a wide, deep ovenproof sauté pan over a medium heat, once

warm, toss in the onion and pepper, stirring well. Get sizzling well, cover and turn down to low, gently frying while stirring occasionally until softened (about 15 – 20 minutes). Uncover and turn up to medium, stir in the garlic, paprika, cumin and chilli if using (go easy to start with) and stir-fry for a few minutes. Fold through the red chillies, tomatoes and seasoning to taste before covering and bringing to a good simmer. Remove the lid and make four wells in the top of the stew with a ladle and break an egg into each. Bake uncovered in the oven until the egg whites are fully set. Remove and sprinkle over the feta and the herbs for colour. Serve along with the flatbreads.

Every effort will be made to complete Phase one within an 18-month period. For further information please

the feel for the tingle without the pain. For an even lighter experience, finely chop a rehyrated ancho dried chilli to your meaty pasta sauce such as a bolognese. As you appreciate the flavour and the zing of what a chilli can bring, you’ll hopefully learn to love it and experiment with the dozens of types of chilli out there. And like me, you’ll just work your way up from that and in no time you’ll be unfazed by the C word on the menu, whatever the cuisine. Even I baulk at a vindaloo or a phal in a curry house, not so much the big burn, but just that I want to taste all the ingredients, not only the chillies. Back to ‘lovers’ day’, to

spoil my Valentine, I think it is so special to rustle up something delicious in the morning, either to kick off proceedings or to celebrate the good times when you wake up.

Here is an easy recipe for

a colourful treat, if you like that French vegetable stew, ratatouille, you’ll love this, the chillies are optional and not too hot, so go for it… Happy Valentine’s! Jonny
