Home Improvements

With the arrival of the New Year, now is the perfect time to look at home improvements. Whether it is a simple lick of paint to change the colour scheme or more major works such as an extension or new kitchen or bathroom. there is nothing quite like getting hold of your house and moulding it to fit your taste, lifestyle and needs.

there is a lot you can do yourself – if you are so inclined, simple jobs like painting and minor improvements such as changing curtains and furnishings. however, these days with busy lives, long working hours and families and friends to see and spend time with, many of us don’t have the time, motivation and skills to carry out this work ourselves. Fear not, we are fortunate to have many local businesses on hand to help make your house your dream home.

Your local family-run installation expert SPECIAL OFFER Halesworth and District Museum - Discovering the Past

THE Museum reopened on January 15th and since then we have been busy working on the range of activities which we undertake to record Halesworth's past for the future. One of these activities

is to receive and catalogue old photographs relating to Halesworth and the surrounding district. The photographs, often aged and creased with time, give fascinating insights into the history of our town. Recently, a volunteer to the Museum with expertise in these matters has been using the wonders of technology to digitally enhance some of these photographs, and the results often reveal startling detail obscured on the original. Our photograph collection is available to see for those visiting the Museum at our premises in the Station Buildings, and we regularly post some of the most interesting on the Halesworth Facebook site under the heading 'Views of Old Halesworth'. If you have any old photographs of the town which you would like to share with the Museum, please do bring them in for us

to see. The Museum recently received a donation from the estate of the late Ivan Sparkes, whose seven publications, 'Halesworth through the Ages, published in the 1990s,

group, Bright Sparks, have recently advised the venue's owners that they would be taking a break from performing Pantomime after their 2019 production of Dick Whittington and at a recent meeting, a number of options were considered, one being to reluctantly discontinue the annual Pantomime, which has become a firm favourite with scores of eager panto-goers, for whom the event is a post- Christmas family treat. After further discussions,

it is now confirmed that Film Theatre manager and former Bright Sparks Pantomime director, Wayne Burns, has agreed to take on the annual Pantomime, under his 'Team B Productions' title and work has already begun on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, which will be staged at the venue between January 16th and 19th 2020. 104-year-old venue between January 10th and 13th to the plaudits of all those who were in attendance. Team B Productions was

formed in 2016, as a separate Community Theatre Group, to produce an alternative Pantomime for Grown-ups, with their debut sell-out show, Throbbin Hood, appearing at the Film Theatre in September 2017 and most recently, repeating that success at the Spa Pavilion Theatre in Felixstowe. The group, which utilizes the talents of experienced am- dram performers, will return to the Film Theatre stage in 2019 with their next adult Pantomime, Rude Riding Hood (September 26th-28th), with over 300 tickets already sold. Wayne is no stranger to the

world of Pantomime, having written, produced and directed 14 separate productions for Bright Sparks since 2001 and is keen to reassure panto-goers that Team B's family Pantomime will still encompass everything that panto means to the 2,000+ loyal supporters, with a huge helping of slapstick fun, local references and familiar faces, maintaining high production values, to ensure an enjoyable experience for the entire audience.
