Beauty news and trends for this season

Don’t have time for a full-on manicure?

Instead of removing your nail colour and reapplying,

try adding a clear shiny top coat to your existing colour for a glossy finish that will make your nails look freshly done.

Which foundation is best for you?

To get the look you're after you may need to use the right base – in other words, foundation. Here are some tips courtesy of the team at beautypress.com:

1. If you have a very dry skin, avoid stick or powder foundation. Apply a liquid foundation, or even better, use a concealer and apply where you would normally apply foundation, blending well and avoiding the very dry areas.

2. If you have very oily skin, go for a powder or a stick foundation. Apply it with a beauty blender or a brush.

3.For dewy, fresh-looking skin, apply a liquid foundation with a silicone sponge (unlike a sponge blonder, this applies your foundation without leaving any residue). The warmth of your skin will also help the foundation absorb more easily.

Gently does it

If you have split ends the only way to get rid of them is to have your hair cut. Being gentle with your hair, on the other hand, may help prevent them. Take care when towel drying and brushing your hair – if you’re

too rough you’ll cause breakage. Also use a detangling spray to ease out knots instead of tugging away with a comb, and treat your locks to a deep conditioning treatment once a week.

38 All About health Scrub up

If you want soft lips, keeping them in impeccable condition is essential. One way to do that is to use a lip scrub once a week. Here’s how the folk at Nivea say you can make your own:

• Mix a teaspoon of honey with two teaspoons of sugar.

• Massage the mixture into your lips and leave for 10 minutes or so.

• Remove with the help of a wet face cloth.

When you’re done, apply a rich lip balm to help keep your lips plump and healthy.

Even if you don’t have a problem with dry skin, you may still have a few dry patches on your elbows. That’s because the skin on your elbows is thicker than elsewhere on your body, plus it has fewer glands that produce oil (sebaceous glands). So what can you do to make your

elbows softer? Use plenty of moisturiser– ask your

local Careway pharmacist to recommend a rich product to help hydrate the skin in that area. Try to get into the habit of moisturising your elbows as often as possible, at least twice a day.
