Ring in the changes with RESCUE REMEDY®
Whatever you’ve decided your goals will be in 2019, here are some tips to help you make the most of the year ahead
At this time of year it’s tempting to want to stay under the duvet, especially when the temperature outdoors shows no sign of rising. But if you find yourself yearning for spring to arrive, remember that the first few months of the year are full of opportunities to help you meet any goals you may have set yourself for the near future. So forget wallowing in winter. Here
are some top tips from RESCUE REMEDY®, the UK's number one emotional wellbeing brand*, that will give you the confidence you need to make the most of 2019.
Get clear If you know with absolute clarity the reason you’re doing something and how you’ll feel once you do it, you automatically increase your chances of success. And because passion drives action, getting passionate about the why can help you increase your chances even more.
Be honest Ask yourself what you would lose and how you would feel if you didn't follow through on your goals. Humans will do anything to move away from pain, so make the idea of not following through painful. Keep a written reminder handy for when you need it.
Prepare for success Make your goals achievable. Try making a plan, setting targets, deadlines, actions, and telling people
about them – once you do so, the stakes are higher. Make sure you get adequate sleep
too (did you realise 70 per cent of people sleep for fewer than seven hours a night?***). Also, find someone you can be
accountable to if you don't do what you say (this partly explains why people who employ coaches often succeed).
Believe to achieve Catch any negative thoughts before they escalate, and stop them in their tracks. Try not to stress about it – you're not alone (84 per cent of people say they feel stressed at some point daily***). It’s important to move ahead, even
when your thoughts are trying to hold you back. Simply recognise the thought and keep moving.
Have faith Whether your goal is to buy a new house or car, start a new relationship, pass exams, go off on a travelling adventure or change your career, know that you can do it. One goal is not different to another on many levels. Try to stop looking for excuses for why it can’t happen, and start finding the reasons it can.
Take action Too much thinking without acting is like approaching an ice cold pool and dipping your toe – it takes far longer to get in than if you just jump. Thinking
too much about something can put you off, delay you or stop you completely in your tracks, so just keep walking forwards. Even one small step is a step in the right direction.
