Be Prepared for Your New Year’s Resolutions

weight loss or exercise. They can also be related to lots of other issues such as business goals, changing habits, organizing the house, closets or whatever you feel needs a change. Health is a good place to start and even if you aren’t up to doing a dietary cleanse, it is a good idea to eliminate the bad stuff (sugar, refined carbohydrates, processed food, dairy, red meat, alcohol and maybe gluten).

N Regardless of what your resolutions are, cleaning out your body

and giving it a break from heavy, congestion-producing foods will help you reach your other goals easier because you will have more energy, reduced cravings and clearer thinking. These “bad” reduce gut health which leads to fatigue, lowered immunity, sluggishness, allergies, joint pain, headaches and autoimmune disorders.

So how does one start a New Year’s resolution? Getting your mind and spirit ready is a huge part of being successful at reaching your goals. It is actually important to cleanse your mind (of bad hab- its) in order to affect change. Write down things that you are wanting to change or cleanse or things you want to accomplish. Second, fig- ure out what your blocks are that could keep you from reaching your goals. Insecurity, shame, poor self-confidence, or plain old fear could keep you from even realizing something is a goal. Create an affirma- tion asking for guidance or strength to overcome your blocks. Then take a few minutes each day at the same time to sit quietly allowing your affirmation to help you find what you would like to change. May I have clarity to find what I need to change.” “May I have strength to change my diet.” Start to journal, brainstorm ideas and go back to it during your “cleanse”. Don’t make your resolution an overwhelming task, the best advice is to keep it simple.

themselves, lose weight, get healthier and feel better. But as Janu- ary rolls into February, that resolve tends to dissolve. What can you do to make this year different? Try yoga. And if you've tried it before, try it again.

A I practice and teach yoga because it has changed not just my

body, but also my mind, my whole being, and the way I live my life. It didn't happen overnight. It happened when I discovered the style of yoga we teach at Sanctuary. It's a style that's accessible to everybody, and at Sanctuary, it's taught by some of the best teach- ers in New England. It's physically and mentally challenging. It will help you shape your body, but also help you shape your mind and your life.

January is exciting because it is full of potential. But really,

you are filled with potential. And you get to uncover and explore your potential when you step onto your yoga mat and take class with us. Our January special is 31 days of unlimited yoga for $31. Make a commitment like this to yourself and you will experience transformation. Not just in your physical body, but in your whole way of being. The more you practice, the better you will feel. The better you feel, the more you will want to practice. And you'll find yourself and your resolve getting stronger.
