ments also can be nestled into the tree, while smaller ornaments may be layered both on the outside and inside of the tree.
The top of the tree can be breathtak-
ingly transformed by adding unexpect- ed floral elements. Mize likes to arrange tall, stick-like florals in a fan pattern and then add a shorter layer, such as vines, making sure they droop naturally. Last- ly, a centerpiece is wired directly to the front of the tree to make a stunning focal point.
Becoming a business
Decorating Christmas trees is just one of the things that come naturally to Mize, and she has decorated trees for several years at area banks, business lobbies and homes. “That’s what makes me want to do it,
putting a smile on people’s faces,” Mize said.
Mize knew at age 16 she wanted to be
a decorator and credits the support from her parents, Sam and Valerie Vigil of Mountain Home, and her mentor, Chris- ti Cooper. She received her interior dec- orating certification during her decade Erica Mize of Marvelous Spaces looks for just right spot for the Christmas star.
