OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2018 THE RIDER /23 Region 18 Celebrates Success We have some excit-
ing momentum building in Region 18 and are so appre- ciative of the tremendous support that the Arabian Horse Association of East- ern Canada and Region 18 received with our 2018 Re- gion 18 Arabian Horse Championships held in An- caster, Ontario. This year, our show
moved back to Ancaster at a sensational new facility at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. The location is the perfect site for our Canadian ex- hibitors and visitors from New York, Michigan and Ohio.
Our Pre-Show Quali-
fier, Eastern Canadian Breeder Championships and Regional Championships successfully combined both main ring, sport horse and dressage classes. We are al- ways so proud to draw the support of amazing horses, great exhibitors, our great club membership and, of course, the company of the great Peter Cameron. We are so very proud of the wonderful feedback that we have received on the show’s execution and our ex- hibitors’ intent to bring even more horses in 2019. Our 2019 show will again be held in Ancaster, Ontario. A sincere thank you to our membership for their sup- port in this endeavor, our faithful exhibitors and our sponsors. A heartfelt THANK YOU to our volun- teers who helped make this collaboration happen. We are so appreciative of the
at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto, Ontario. There will be $20,000 in prize money offered in four saddle seat classes. This invitation-only event draws horses from all over Canada and the United States and is an unparalleled experience for both specta- tors and exhibitors alike. Both of these events
help spread the word and celebrate the joy that is the Arabian horse, and we look forward to our 2019 show season. For more informa- tion on our show and offer- ings, please reach out to Allan Ehrlick or Joshua Schildroth. More informa- tion can be found at

equally adept as a reiner and as a dressage horse. Dunny has recently achieved
NRHA Gold, a feat few attain. Not only has he accumulated winnings at the $10,000 US level, but is now on his way to total lifetime earnings of $25,000 US in NRHA events (note-all earnings won in Cdn$ are converted to US$ for tracking earn- ings in NRHA). On the ORHA (On- tario Reining) circuit, Dunny has
been ridden in the majority of events by 24 year old Canadian Darby Mailhot, the rest by Quebec trainer Alain Allard. Alain is only 1 of 2 Canadians to ever win NRHA Cat 4 Open Oklahoma Futurity, is a highly recognized NRHA judge, FEI Reining judge and multi-win- ner of the Quebec Trainer of the Year. Darby is a rising reining star and a previous World Reserve Lim- ited Open NRHA Champion.
The talent of this young horse
began early, he competed at 33 months of age and won the ORHA Category 2 Sanctioned Futurity. Dunny won the LO Pro Futurity class at Scottsdale and has been Top Ten in the Open Division. Recently he won the ORHA Sired Stakes Derby. In 2018, he competed at an EC Gold Dressage show and achieved the high score for the day Dressage/Western Dressage.
Y Not Dunny’s sire is their
NRHA Platinum Stallion, Dun It You Won It, the first NRHA Plat- inum in Ontario. His dam is the purebred Arabian mare, Traverston Gizelle, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 35. Congratulations to Ron &
Gillian, and to YNot Dunny—the horse that did it!

Both Linda & Sol- stice tied for the HVS Award (high vet score, based on 500 points, cate- gories include hydration, gait, soreness, etc). A total of 13 horses began the day, 12 horses completed, the majority being Arabian or Half-Arabians. Thank you to Phyllis
Pecile for organizing and managing this event, held in combination with other di-
time you took out of your busy schedules, and you are the core of our greatness. We always love to
highlight our sponsors who help make our show hap- pen. Our sponsorship pro- gram allows us to recognize the efforts and uniqueness of some of the great horses who have graced us with their successes and presence in our club’s rich history and in our association as a whole. We are so thankful for your ongoing support and look forward to this continued celebration of the Arabian horse in Region 18. The year will close in
November with the presti- gious “Battle of the Breeds”
visions at Summer’s End.
Reining As a demonstration at
the Royal Winter Fair it proved to be exciting for those who saw it for the first time or the hundredth. Great scores in the open classes are rare and these runs are usually on Quarterhorses. But, there is a chestnut Half-Arabian gelding with white markings on his face and legs here in Ontario, who is out there performing reining patterns envied by many riders. Y Not Dunny, owned & bred by Ron & Gillian Lubinski, is a Half- Arabian with a huge heart and skill, performing
