Alde Valley Suffolk Family History Group October meeting
THE November meeting of the Alde Valley Suffolk Family History Group will be a talk 'Summerhill - That Dreadful School - memories of Leiston and Summerhill School' by Zoё Readhead, the current Principal of Sum- merhill school. Summerhill was founded by A S Neill in Germany in 1921 and arrived in Leiston in 1927, taking up residence in “Newhaven", the house that Richard Garrett built for his family. Although controversial, Leiston and Summerhill have a long rela- tionship and through Summer- hill, the name of Leiston has become known world-wide.
This talk, by A S Neill’s daughter, Zoё Readhead, will be on Wednesday 21st Novem- ber at Knodishall Village Hall, School Road, IP17 1uD, and will start at 2.30pm. Everyone is welcome; admission costs £1 for members and £3 for non-members, including cof- fee/tea and biscuits. This is the first time the Fam- ily History Group has met at Knodishall Village Hall. We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a most interesting afternoon in the hands of another entertain- ing speaker.
Have Your Say on Saxmundham’s Outdoor Fitness Equipment
SAxMuNDHAM Town Council and Suffolk Coastal District Council are working together on a project to provide outdoor fitness equipment for the residents of Saxmundham. We are seeking feedback
on whether an Outdoor Gym or a Trim Trail would be best suited. Visit the survey monkey link to find out more and have your say. The closing date for the consultation is 31st
December 2018. The options are; an Outdoor
Gym or Trim Trail. Outdoor Gyms are aimed at people of all fitness levels and consist of equipment to help people exercise outside. Trim Trails are adventure
course areas for both adults and children aimed at helping to improve balance, coordination, flexibility and build strength.
These examples will be displayed in the Saxmundham Town Council notice boards and in Saxmundham Library where visitors will also be able to submit their feedback during this consultation. Please complete the
survey online at www. s u r v e ymo n k e y. c o . u k / r / SaxmundhamRecreation
