he Blue Lotus Buddhist Temple
will open in Novem- ber at 51 North Pitt Street, in Carlisle. Area residents will have the opportunity to learn Buddhism from Bhante Soma, a Teravada Buddhist
monk born in Sri Lanka, who has been studying since he was 10 years old. Theravada is the most ancient
branch of Buddhism still surviving to- day. Soma teaches and leads meditations throughout the week, and is available for house blessing, baby blessing, perform- ing marriage ceremonies and private counseling sessions. Buddhist practices and meditation are
a means of cultivating mindfulness in or- der to develop the qualities of awareness, kindness and wisdom.

Open House to Benefit Save the Children Fund

Parenting Center is holding a 10th anni- versary celebration and silent auction to benefit Save the Children from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Novem- ber 17. Tere will be a morning of free activi- ties for kids and families, as well as 10 percent off all classes, workshops and giſt cards. Om Baby began in 2008 with Prenatal
Yoga classes. Additional classes grew from the interest of new families, including baby and tots yoga, baby signing, art, music and birth preparation classes in 2009. Tey pro- vide resources that help initiate mindful, healthy connections with between parents, children and the community.

Perhaps Today Ministries International (PTM) has elected Emma Bionske as secretary of the board of directors. A native of Manila, in the Philippines, she has a strong faith and has been an exchange parent in the U.S. for several years to give back and support the students and their goals. PTM is also looking for two more people for director
positions on the board to seek out donations/partners to offer services or give services or donate funds themselves. Te nonprofit helps hundreds of families a year and do- nates more than $2,500 in counseling services every month.
