HEALTHY HAIR HACKS

One of the most requested looks in salon is shiny, healthy- looking hair. While a good trim can certainly help add life back into your style, there are a number of other tips I always pass on that can help enhance the appearance of your hair with minimum effort…

1 - DITCH THE ELASTICS Elastics are notoriously bad for the hair - haven’t we all got them stuck in our style at some point or another and had to cut them loose? They can cause damage which can ruin the appearance of an otherwise healthy head of hair. Far better are the spiral bands, which look like an old telephone wire and are completely snag-free.

2 - SLEEP ON SILK A silk pillowcase might sound like the height of luxury but you can pick one up for around £20 online and it’s an investment your hair will thank you for. The benefits are notorious – everything from reducing frizz and flyway’s to longer lasting blow-dries and even improved skin tone! Definitely a buy you won’t regret!

3 - NOURISH FROM WITHIN There are countless supplements that aim to improve the strength and condition of your hair and I’ve seen really impressive results on clients that take these. Look for a reputable brand that contains biotin, zinc, iron and a range of vitamins and set yourself a reminder to take daily as required. You should notice a difference within a couple of months in not only your hair, but skin and nails as well.

4 - TURN DOWN THE HEAT When it comes to styling, it’s ideal to limit the use of heated appliances whenever possible – however, I know that’s never going to be easy! Instead, my advice is to reduce the temperature – most irons, tongs and hairdryers have controllable settings, so if your hair isn’t too unruly, try a cooler heat to be kinder to hair.
