e’re now fully into the Autumn season, which infl uences our own bodies and minds with qualities characterized as dry, light, cold, rough. We can experience dry skin, dry cough, sore throat, constipation, feel anxious, mentally scat- tered and have trouble sleeping. The good news is that Ayurveda (India’s traditional medicine, known as ‘the science of life’) pro- vides us with a blueprint to balancing these qualities and reducing any negative impact the season might have on our health.


W All of nature has a cycle. A daily routine will help balance the


qualities of Vata (air and ether, which dominates this season) and will put your mind at ease and reduce stress. Following a daily routine, keeping to warm cooked meals at regular times and fi tting medita- tion and movement in are paramount. Ayurveda offers very specifi c and deep practices to maintain health, but let’s start with breakfast! A quick, easy, nourishing breakfast for the Vata season is to simply warm banana slices in a pan, add a teaspoon of ghee and sprinkle with cardamom, cinnamon, and ground ginger. You’ll start the day feeling more balanced, clear, and grounded.
