Farnborough air show is no pipe dream for Plymouth tube firm


The 2018 Farnborough International Airshow is the most important aviation trade show of the year - and this year was no exception. With the attendance and representation of many aerospace and advance engineering companies from the Plymouth and surrounding area, this firmly put Devon to the forefront of aviation technology. Attending the four-day event


was precision tube manufacturer Fine Tubes Ltd, based in Plymouth, who showcased their high performance aerospace products to


exhibitors and attendees throughout the event. It also gave them the opportunity to network with other areas of the aerospace community including manufacturers, airlines, financiers, military and governments. Mike Cullum, International Sales Manager – EMEA for Plymouth- based Fine Tubes, commented: “Aerospace is a key market for our precision tubing products which are used for some of the most critical engine and airframe applications where failure is not an option. For us, the Farnborough


International Airshow was an ideal platform for showcasing our capabilities across a wide range of advanced metals and lightweight alloys. “Farnborough exceeded our


expectations, enabling us to hold a series of meetings with current and potential new customers.” The Farnborough Airshow has a


world class reputation with more than 1500 exhibitors and 100,000 sgm of exhibition space, featuring static aircraft and flying displays. It also boasts of up to 100,000 visitors over the four days.


Financial adviser Helen is one in a million


Helen West has recently returned to her day job running Mutley- based West Financial Management after attending the Million Dollar Round Table’s 91st Annual conference, held in Los Angeles, USA.


Helen has been a qualified Independent Financial Adviser for 19 years and this was her 18th time of attending the international event. Along with her work commitments, Helen dedicates considerable time supporting various charities, and is involved with Roborough Rotary, YMCA and Mutley Baptist Church. The Million Dollar Round Table


(MDRT) is the premier financial association for financial advisers. It began in 1927 with 32 members and now has 66,000 members in 72 countries. Spread over three days, the international conference gives financial advisers from around the world the opportunity to meet and hear from spectacular speakers, to network with their

peers, exchange information on how to improve their lives, businesses and how to better serve their clients. This year Helen met speaker and singer Ketchi Okwuchi. Ketchi was one of only two survivors of flight Sosoliso 1145 which crashed in 2005 taking 107 lives, 60 from her own school. MDRT supports


many charities, one this year being The Exodus Road which fights human


trafficking, facilitates rescue


missions and helps arrest traffickers. So far there have been 941 people rescued and 410 arrests in six countries. $126,000 was donated by MDRT members and MDRT matched this, making a total of $252,000 donated to The Exodus Road Charity.
