Association President
Ann Acaster Dear Fellow Members,
Don’t we belong to an amazing Association?
Our International Inner Wheel President Christine Kirby from Australia has given us this year, for our new theme, Empower and Evolve. I hope that after our Annual Association Assembly in Leicester and after your individual District Assemblies, you will feel you have been Empowered in such a way that you as individuals can help your Districts, Clubs and your own membership to Evolve.
I thank you so much for giving me the opportunity and honour of being your Association President. Thank you to each and every one of you who has called, sent cards, Facebook messages, texts, or messages of encouragement and support. They have all been greatly appreciated. I face this year with excitement and an obvious sense of trepidation but will do my very best to honour the faith that you have put in me. I know that with your encouragement, your support and by working together, we can move our wonderful Inner Wheel forward and achieve so much.
Please have a look at the Jessie’s Fund website
www.jessiesfund.org.uk, our charity for this year. Every club should have received a pack about this amazing charity.
My thanks to all who are taking office this year, as we look forward to another year of service and fun, but most of all friendship. Good luck in all that you do.
With sincere love, support and friendship, Ann
Oh for a Morsel of Food
The District Chairman, Vice Chairman and Member of Council for District 7 thought it would be rather pleasant to meet up for lunch and a good chat in Thrapston. First stop was the hotel, only to discover that they no longer served lunches. Undaunted, they headed for the local pub, looking forward to a nice pub lunch. It was closed! By this time, they were beginning to despair of ever finding sustenance so headed off in search of another pub which they duly found. It, however, did not serve food at all!
They did offer a solution to the problem. If the ladies liked to get fish and chips from the local “chippy”, they were welcome to eat these in the pub. So instead of the anticipated lunch, they ate their fish and chips – in newspaper – and enjoyed a little glass of something in the pub, with a great deal of laughter!
