he Platinum Penthouse
Interior Architect & Designer – OS Designs - was appointed by leading housebuilder Weston Homes to design a London penthouse with a specific brief from Bob Weston, the founder and Chairman of
Weston Homes, “To create the most luxurious penthouse in the area - to create a jewel in the crown”
Located close to London’s 2012 Olympic Park and covering 2820 sq ft of the 28th floor of Weston Homes’ Stratford Riverside development The Platinum Penthouse comprises of two exceptional reception rooms, three bespoke designed bedroom suites and an outdoor area with a central terrace and six further balconies giving unrivalled 360 degree views over several iconic London landmarks.
From the private entrance hall, double doors offer views into the main reception room with dove grey marble flooring bordered by floor-to-ceiling 2.7m windows, providing panoramic views. To one side of the salon living area is a cinema-style television screen and wall-inset feature fireplace, framed by bespoke joinery. The salon’s velvet covered ‘L’-shaped sofas are arranged around a silk- blend custom design carpet and Ralph Lauren glass and chrome coffee table and console tables with lamps. The colour palette of silver, grey and taupe has been crafted to enhance and reflect the natural light streaming through the floor to ceiling windows.
The spacious, chef-style kitchen has sliding frosted glass dividers, allowing the owner the option of either an open plan or secluded cooking space. OS Designs opted for a fully fitted bespoke kitchen room with a six-seat breakfast bar, with bespoke units, silestone worktops and integrated appliances
including a full height champagne/wine
display fridge. Kitchen toys include a champagne box on the worktop.
Reinforced flooring was required for the master suite (which opens onto the spa pool area on the terrace) to allow a bespoke 1.5 tonne marble circular fireplace to take centre stage. Nero veined marble slabs on the floor contrast with white marble on the walls and glass panels screen the quadruple-sized walk-in rainfall shower.
Everything about the interior design, which took 60 engineers, craftsmen and designers six months to fit out, is unique. Ten tonnes of the finest rare marble from Verona, bespoke fittings, fixtures, specially commissioned artwork with handmade wallpaper and furniture designed by Oz Lancaster have all been carefully designed and installed, at all times with meticulous attention to detail.
Bringing the magnificence of London’s skyline into the property, the designs for the architraves, doors, bespoke joinery and furniture were all inspired by the metallic facades of Canary Wharf. As such, as the morning sun illuminates the interiors, the warmth of natural sand, stone and wood tones are brought to the forefront, whilst in the evenings more of the grey-blue marble tones dominate.
A very impressive scheme worthy of its nomination to the shortlist of the Sunday Times British Homes Awards for “Best Interior Design of an Individual Home above £500,000.”
