Elections Two candidates put themselves forward for chairman.After avote, Cllr Wellswas elected chairman, ahead of Cllr Tripp. Cllr Simonswas elected vice- chairman. Resignation The chairman referred to the resignation of Stephen Tickner and agreed with his reasons, saying he did not agree with theway he had been treated. Cllr Tripp said he felt the commentswere apersonal aack, and said the role of the chairmanwas to advise councillors.However, advice given toMr Ticknerwas not taken so he felt he had to stop communications relating to insurance. Following adiscussion, itwas proposed and agreed that aleer of apology should be sent toMr Tickner, asking himto consider re-joining the council. Potholes Cllr Balfour had been told by a member of the public that therewere alarge number of potholes inDanns Lane and another inAllingtonGardens. Cllr Balfour asked the clerk to email himthe details. Friends ofWateringbury Itwas agreed that an annual limit of £7 5 bemade available for work and repairs to parish council-owned property. PlanningMembers discussed the leasewith theWateringbury Sports and Recreational Association that covered insurance, particularly the pavilion. Itwas agreed that aleer be sent toWSRAasking for details for the cover. Play area It had been reported that achild had fallen off apiece of play equipment on to the grass and not thewet pour surface. Abacus reported that thewet pour surface conformed to safety standards. Councillors felt that an emergency inspectionwas not necessary and agreed towait for the annual inspection in July. StreetlightingDue to the lack of service and breach of contract by SSE, the clerk had approached four contractors to quote for a street lightingmaintenance contract.Only one quote had been received, from Streetlights. Cllr Fielding said SSE had told


Nelestead that theywould no longer maintain their lights, andNelestead had changed to Streetlights. Itwas agreed to accept the quote of £1 ,5 0 0 per year. SSE would be told that the accountwith them would be closedwith immediate effect. CrossroadsAn update fromKCC regarding the proposed changes to the crossroads said the proposalwould nowgo to the design stage and if agreed, and following apublic consultation,work could start in autumn. AllotmentsOne rentwas outstanding.A communal shedwhich had been left by a previous holder for use by otherswas in need of some repairs and the costwould be £3 7 . The councilwas asked for a contribution to the cost, but felt that those who used the shed should contribute. Jointflood group Teston PC had asked for a meeting about the level crossing gates. Nelestead PC had no issuewith automatic gates being installed and felt therewas no need for themto be involved in discussions. Pavilion plans Councillors had adraft proposal drawn up for changes to the pavilion.Architectural engineerMark Goldingwas present and put forward his ideas to improve the pavilion.Members agreed the proposals in principle and suggestedMrGolding come backwith further details. AllingtonGardensAresident referred to vehicles parking across his drive,making it impossible for himto get his car out, and produced pictures he had taken.
